I've never scrapped a BX - or any car for that matter. I have given them to someone to 'do up' (in three cases over the years). One of them - a 1987 BX GTi was past it, but was still on the road eight years after I gave it away. Where there's a will there's a way - but I agree with both sides: I do tend to form attachments (steady  ) with some cars and others I don't. But I never lose sight of the fact they are 'just' a car... But some cars 'earn' your respect: like the 160,000 mile BX GTi 'DGK' that never let us down in four years of daily driving...

Thinking about it I don't 'care' much for either of our cars at the moment: they need to prove themselves first... but then again both are miles off being scrap!

I've scrapped 32 BX's now, currentley breaking the 33rd and the 34th is waiting outside to meet it's fate.
I dont get sad about it.
The cars that were scrapped have kept many many more BX's on the road.

Billy may have scrapped a couple of BX's but so what. I know damn well the parts from those cars also went to keep other cars on the road, when dads car got torched Billy offered break his TD for any parts I needed for dads, for free, despite having a buyer for the car complete.
That to me is f*cking nice gesture.

They are only a car, and they are worth very little, at this time a BX will always be worth in parts than complete.

Sentamentality is pointless with cars, infact it's pointless with people aswell. Everything dies, it's a fact of life.

Sooner or later (probably sooner) the entire human race will be wiped out by warring terrorists, so there will be no-one to appreciate anything let alone cars.
Hardly worth getting sad over it.

I was tempted to do just that a couple of days ago, but the water looked cold, so I retreatd to the services and had some dinner instead.

They're even rarer now. This one is a manual  I've had a couple of 1.9TZD manuals in the last couple of years and helped them become rarer by crushing them :D
Well done Billy, you must be so proud
Actually I am, thankyou. Both saved more than one car but it's not like you'd ever stop to consider that is it? Of course in the real world we all work at main dealers so all the free cars we've had can be restored or repaired for next to f*ck all I suppose?
In future kindly keep your oar out until you know the facts, comments like that aimed at me are not welcomed nor warranted.

Cant say I wear knickers, I'm not a girl......

Dont think there's anything wrong with anyone defending themselves TBH.

I know Billy quite well, and he's a thoroughley decent chap, and I guess Tim's met Billy?
Either way it was a rather uncalled for IMHO, and unnecessary, we all do what we have to do to survive, pay the bills and provide for our families, some are more financially fortunate than others, but we are all people with feelings regardless.

I've scrapped infinitley more cars than Billy.
And no-one on here cares if a Ford Escort gets scrapped, but people that like Ford Escorts might.

The point of a forum is for people to air their views, it is not necessarily a mutual admiration society! Having said that, there does exist a good fellowship on here in the main.

Looking at it objectively, the BX would never achieve special status if every one was saved! It is only by the natural wastage of a product (any product) that the item becomes rare and then strangely coveted by many who would never have given it houseroom in it's heyday but now it's an investment, it becomes desireable.
Although meant in a jokey way, Cav may have been quite right about making the car rarer and hence on it's way to becoming more valuable and desireable.

Billy if I have offended then please accept my apologies. Maybe the comment was a little sharp, I interpretted it as you were boasting about how many Bx's you had scrapped which as you know me being a BX devotee I found disturbing.

I shant go back over the point of free cars as that ones been done to death, however I would comment that nothing is done for free, there are no scams and no tricks pulled, yes the work I have done is cheaper than the £75 a hour retail price but sadly not free, they are not a charity, but as Im not mechanically able to do itall myself then I have to pay up or shut up.

No company car is gratis, as anyone who runs will know, Gordon Brown takes a tidy sum off me for the useage of it every month in tax, as a non smoker who doesnt drink, my "vice" is my cars which is where I spend my "me" money, my choice I grant you but I pay my way and dont get anything for nothing.

Anyway Please accept my apology, lets forget about it and can we move on please, I dont wish to be "ganged up" on as it seems pointless.

I think it means that two men entered, and one left?

Or one man likes leaves, maybe having fallen from a tree (the leaves like).

Or maybe........er, actually, er, I duno!

Cant cook without stirring, my omlette's would lose all that puffy goodness if I didn't stir the mix.

Wow how much of a pedant am I!

There's nothing wrong with Omlette's. Very good for you so they are.
Especially with cheese on them.
Or maybe some onions, or cheese and some onions, obviousley only mature cheddar cheese is acceptable, if you use anything other than real cheddar round here you get the cheddar police knocking on the door.
Being so close to Cheddar like.
I used to drive a bus to Cheddar everyday, there's a marvellous shop in the middle of town that do the most marvellous "natural ingredients" stuff, I could spend thousands in there, and probably have over the years.
Run by a very attractive and most friendly lady who used to give me the eye whilst trundling past in my bus.
She was most lovely.
Not as lovely as that Duffy woman (singer or something), I reckon an hour with me and she'd spend the rest of her life in a wheel caghir being fed blended food through a straw.

Of course Omlette's require an accompanyment, I usually run with a jacket potato, or if I'm feeling really frivalous I do chips.
Jacket potato's are rather nice with a splash of worcestorshire sauce I find, but Mustard can add a nice bite aswell..

Either way, Omlette's are good. Not bad. Good.
