That's just since the last change - 9,273 miles (or thereabouts) ago. I don't tend to hoover it out at the interim oil change only services, only when I change the air filter but it's the first time I've sucked up a fag end!

Probably courtesy of one of those dirty smokers that flick fag-ends out of the window that then get carried by their slipstream into the front of your car & in this case, air intake.mat_fenwick wrote: it's the first time I've sucked up a fag end!

I had to work on a C3 where the customer complained of a lack of power, on removing the air filter I found the air box below the filter completely full of peanuts.

Must check mine. The car lives under a Broad Leafed Lime tree - so the bottom of the filter box tends to fill up with seeds - which act as an extra filter.

I tend to get lots of acorn 'shells' as the squirrels seem to like throwing the husks all over the BX. A job for the vacuum or I remove and shake'em out. My neighbour has a large oak which overhangs and threatens to drop branches over my car(s).

Limes are bad for shedding branches when getting old and both drop gum, in my experience. Still having parking is more important.

Actually they did, but when the previous owner had it! Hence some of the soundproofing up by the bulkhead is a bit less thick than it used to be. It was in his garage too at the time!

Today sadly, for the first time in 10 years, I failed the MOT Brake lights (which were working on Saturday) and a weep for my repair on the rear height corrector return pipe. Technically that was a double failure point, as it was also failed on "inappropriate method of repair". I.e. any metal pipes should only be repaired with metal, although I could have possibly argued that it joins to a rubber pipe at the front so my rubber repair should have been OK. The fact that it started leaking after only a couple of years though, suggests it probably wasn't appropriate.
Brake light is easy to sort, as that's just the switch - which is only 30k miles old. Looks like I'll be changing the front to rear pipes for the first time though, or at least the return.
In other news I recreated a photo taken 15 years ago!
Even down to the same bike on the back!

How interesting, 'inappropriate method of repair'. Supports my contention it was an 'inappropriate method of manufacture'!
However in the interests of consistency I cannot see that as a fail if the other rubber returns are not failed too. I would accept it should not leak but not that it should not be there as a repair. Not logical.
Off course if you have a DS of a certain age you can pee red to your hearts content now and no one cares. What a bizarre system!
