No worries. Not sure what to do next. Do I try a new primer head or do I assume the problem lies down the back of the engine? I'd really like to have it usable for a Midlands road trip at the end of the month.

If you can bring it round one evening we can have a play, if it's not too late now that is?

Got the new windscreen in now - picture is a bit blurry but you get the idea.

Next job is a gearbox swap and work on the front suspension (assuming life doesn't get in the way!)

Thanks Mat. Think it's a bit late now. That said, the Maverick appears to have non-working rear brakes, so the fall-back position is looking a bit ropey!

I did take the BX for a run today. Usual starting horrificness and still down on power (mind you, it's felt like that since I first got it back on the road) but it didn't seem to misfire even when hillclimbing. Maybe I should risk it...

You need to update your signature! There's less to fail suddenly and catastrophically on a diesel engine, so I'd be inclined to give it a go. Good luck!

I'm minded to agree Mat! Better something slow with good brakes than something quicker with iffy brakes...

Might need to change the 'stat though. Heater output is woeful at the moment.

If you fit the new doors before the return trip, that should help with the cabin temperature!

Indeed so! The test drive just was quite chilly with the amount of air blowing in everywhere. I may try and improve the situation before departure...

Is that a standard digital display watsit? Looks quite modern for an 80s/90s cit.

No, it's just a cheap in/out thermometer from eBay, which fitted quite neatly in the space where the clock was on the BX.

Shouldn't be a big job to swap the LED for a green one, I agree that blue looks out of place.
