Or you could stick some of this on it? (to make green? - worth a try for 298p?)

Nooooo, they have sold out - some bu&&er bought the last 2!!! Just my luck - I missed out on the BX window decals as well

Although might have a look at this one with a battery guage as well. Not sure it will fit where the clock is though - I'll have to measure up at the weekend.

Jay - I know vaguely where you'll be keeping your BX - I might have to pop round and 'borrow' one of them just so that I can look at the shiny sensor

I'm sure they'll have more in stock if you send them a message. When I bought mine there were many sellers selling the same one but less now (can only find it in white).

The external sensor I mounted inside the passenger door mirror - threading the wire through the existing rubber tubing for neatness.

In other news, I've managed to repair an inverter that I've been meaning to fix for the last 5 years!

Image

It failed when I connected an old style CRT TV to it, which I think drew a large surge of current to start it. The problem turned out to be that several of the MOSFETs on the output side had gone short circuit. After replacing 8 of them (not cheap at nearly £2 each!) it now seems to be working OK! It was a present from Lana so had a bit of sentimental value - would have been a shame to bin it.

An inverter has sentimental value  Sorry mate, i'd hate to think how sentimental you must get with the important stuff    Always nice to see something being fixed rather than the usual, chuck it away mentality 8)

 Maybe sentimental was the wrong word! Just that if you buy something yourself, you don't mind as much if it fails and you have to bin it (not that I like throwing anything away!) But it feels really bad throwing away something that was bought as a present.

Is the inverter destined to power a washer jet heater system in the BX?

You could perhaps install seat heaters with that too.

mmmm....... heated seats.

It isn't, but that thread did remind me of it! It's rated at 1kW (given sufficient battery and alternator capacity) so should manage a few heating elements.

Maybe use for your patent pending windscreen washer hose heater

1KW

That's 100A input.

After a minute full power use, you may have to replace those transistors again.
