I could double check that, but as I remember they were curved in such a way it'd be obvious if they were on the wrong way round. I might measure them against the originals which I still have somewhere.

I had this a while back, I bought a set of TRE's from GSF. I cant remember what make they were now (I've had a few beers!) but they just wouldn't allow enough adjustment.

So I got some Lemforder items and they were about 16MM shorter!

Jobbed.

Still no joy with that PAS ?

As I re-read the thread, it seems likely to be a failed FDV causing the original sudden lack of steering assistance.
Much later after engine repair and hassles, there is a risc you have mixed up the piping - on the FDV unit.

This is possible as there are 2 adjacent 6.35mm pipeports at the bottom of the FDV unit - as well as on the top of the unit.
A known consequence of such mishap is a blown accumulator sphere - proven by a DK home BX mechanic (no - not me  ).

Viewed when standing in front of the car :
On top of the FDV, the LHS 6.35 pipe is from the HP pump. The RHS 6.35 pipe leads to the PR standard top input port.
On bottom of the FDV, the LHS 6.35 pipe leads via the 2-part rubber damper hosing to the PR angled input port. The mid 6.35 pipe leads to the reservoir as return pipe. This pipe will also join the return from the pinion valve in a rubber T somewhere. The bottom RHS pipe is the 4.75 pressure feed pipe for the pinion valve.

If you mix up the feed and return pipes on the pinion valve, you will get no steering assistance at all, and most likely the pressure feed pipe will burst from the uncontrolled maximun raw HP pump pressure. This pressure may exceed 400bar when you speed up the engine ...
The lower most pipe port (closest to the rack housing) on the pinion valve is the PAS return pipe.

If you mix up the pipes for the ram, the ram will most likely lock at one sides extreme as soon as you turn the steering wheel - but opposite to the steering wheel direction ...

*then lots of other stuff*
Erm, it's sorted dude.

Infact the PAS issue was sorted on page 1!

There then followed a further bout of me proclaiming how amazing I am...

Sad, but true.

I shall never be a chav [-( !=!!

I detest chavs.

I'm just very brilliant. It's actually scary! Really it is!

Incidentally, why is violet listed as violet when it's clearly pink?

Violet probably has some issues which are closet related I reckon.

The poor colour, he should just embrace who he really is. There's no shame in it.
