Hi Charlotte

Good on you welcome to the BXAGON family. ^^ ^^ ^^bx>
I would say from an economy point there would be little to choose between the 14 and the TZD but for comfort and reliability i would say the TZD.
If it has had a good service before hand and the timing belt etc are new or have been changed in the recent past then you should not have any problems.

As far as a co driver i am sure someone local to you will step up to the mark and join you in this great adventure. 8)

Regards Kermit :) :) :)

I know it sounds obvious and there's probably a good reason... but: Why not come along in your BX14? It won't be too risky being a solo driver team, so long as you stick to the pack just in case!

phil,

the main reason is that currently i think it would need quite alot of fettling although probably minor, possibly quite a lot of bits if that makes sense, though it could be a possibilty.

put it this way, if myself and jaba and maybe one or two others nr cheltenham can get a unit to work in that would give me the facility and so on then it might become a possibilty.

however as i have no knowledge of france or driving abroad at all i wouldnt want to go it alone, and all my friends are too 'square and boring' to go anywhere near a bx! losers!

so, if anyone wants to climb abord and make a team in my vehicle, let me know!

thanks

We all have to start somewhere, but I do understand. There's not a lot to get the hang of - apart from driving on the 'wrong side' and making sure you understand the rule variations/signs (all that can be revised beforehand) etc.

I imagine there's no real issue with getting almost any BX ready, but I do appreciate the cost/hassle factor too.

Well, the word is out... hopefully someone will step up to the plate for you.

One thought. Why not approach you local Citroen dealership. Explain you want to do this and try to persuade the boss to sponsor the team, help in getting the car ready (OK it's a long-shot!) and ask if there's one of his service crew (maybe a young 'un) who could be your co-pilot. Good for publicity (and that apprentice's experience too). The local press could get involved and the dealership looks good all round. (Worth a try, although we all know what they could say, so don't count on it - but a bucketful of enthusiasm and a good cause goes a long way).

team thread

phil,

the fettling shouldnt be too hard, just hope i get the chance soon to assess what needs doing, then i can schedule things to make sure its all done.

probably quite familiar to you this, but my local dealership is no better than dowright useless! and worse still it is a joint citroen/peugeot dealership which was their reason for not wanting to have anything to do with the event!

i shall do my best to tinker with my tge etc, but i would say, if anybody has a space in a team or wants to join me and lend a hand with the car then they are more than welcome and should contact me a.s.a.p

thanks again

I love the idea mate, *if* the health situation is under some control by then I'm certainly up for it. At the moment though I'd need a fucking arctic to bring all the drugs and an on-hand doctor, so it's not looking to rosy for blatting around France right now.

If I do go though I'll take the valver and sod the expense. If one is gona cruise round France then it may as well be in the best car they ever produced.

Hi everyone!

This expands upon information I sent out last November. Apologies if I seem to have repeated myself somewhere!

These are: Principle hotel details plus (where appropriate) one or more alternatives.
Camping options will be advised later if not mentioned below.

Disclaimer: I have used the internet to research the following and although generally reliable for this sort of thing, only by phoning the Hotels will details, rates and availability be confirmed.

TEAM STOP-OVERS: Each team makes it's own accommodation arrangements with the exception of our stop-over in Alaigne (2 nights: 23rd and 24th Oct.), where we will allocate B&B spaces, and at St.Gilles Vieux Marche (Mike's place) on the 27th October, where there will be camping (although I have included a Hotel in a relatively close town just in case).
Whatever the case, each team has to pay for their accommodation and secure it as appropriate with a debit/credit card number for example.

BOOKING: As many of the Hotels only accept bookings less than 250 days prior to the required date, an earliest booking date is suggested.
Also remember the 25th-30th October will be busier as many French schools are off. This was an unavoidable thing, but seeing as we are going to be driving along routes against the main 'current' it might not be too bad. SO BOOK EARLY to avoid disappointment.

PHONE BOOKINGS: Most Hotels - and certainly, I would have thought ALL of the principle ones noted below will have an English-speaking reception. It might be a good idea to have the following or similar available when you phone: http://www.europa-pages.co.uk/lessons/french-hotel.html

RENDEZVOUS: As previously discussed, the current plan involves meeting in the car park of the Holiday Inn at Folkstone (as it's off the M20/A20 access to both Folkstone and Dover is good) and conduct final briefing/ 'scrutineering' there, between 10:30 am and 3:30 pm on Saturday 17th October.

17th October
UK RENDEZVOUS Folkestone
HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS:
Cheriton High Street, Folkestone, CT19

The Docmeister, he writ:

Anybody know any fast chicks with REALLY low standards?!
I know two actually Chris!! :D
The first I married in 1981, then divorced in 1986 cos I discovered her standards were even too low for me!
The second I am currently married to, she can be as fast as a TD on full-boost, and her standards are just perfect in the low department!
I know we like to share things between us in this Club, but I ain't lending her to you for a jaunt across La Manche!!!

£38 return channel crossing for BXagon: book before 18th Feb

Post by Mike E (uk) »

Low Season, each way:

£19

Car 4 people, each way fares, for any length of stay:

The Travel Market has teamed up with ferry operator Norfolkline to bring Speedferries customers this exclusive, fully flexible deal on all Dover-Dunkirk sailings up to 17/12/09.

There are just two fares to choose from: High season (03/04-19/04 inclusive and 17/07-06/09 inclusive), or Low season (all other times excluding High season), and the price you see is the price you pay whether you choose a day, night, peak or non peak sailing within a season. There are no amendment fees so you can change your booking, subject to availability as many times as you like, but you must book your crossings by 18 February 2009.

http://www.ferrycheap.com/norfolkline-offer.asp

I have just booked my return trip, for £38
la BX 16 soupapes: sachez apprecier avec moderation.

It might be clever now, but it won't be in the morning!
