Killjoy I'm not, but I don't think we're at the stage where there this is going to happen. There are breakers (like Edwards) who do specialise and for those who are resourceful there really isn't a paucity of parts except for a few choice items for which financing a BX-focussed parts 'park' isn't practical. Individuals, instead, should be encouraged to hoard BX parts (even whole cars) in the corners of their garages, sheds and yards, and be knowledgeable of their 'stock' so that the Forum (that is, the club) effectively becomes that 'dream'. For the time being at least.

I would think Ken is probably our premium Citroen BX saver, between him and Shaun(?) anyhow.
Some of us have tried our best to save them and occasionally to break the worse case ones to save others, and some free cars and free parts have benefitted many a person, some more than others. As long as the spirit of the club remains where we try and help each other out with free/cheap parts and cars and this is passed on to the next owner then all to the good.
When that falls down is when (as I've seen on other forums, not this one) some freeloading f*ck*r scores everything for nowt then makes a nice profit for doing sod all/next to sod all. It's one thing saving cars, another turning a nice drink out of everyone for next to sod all outlay. Like I say that doesn't happen on here and I hope it never does.

No you don't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jaba, your dream is great, really it is. But why don't you buy up all the spare BXs going???? Maybe because you can't (finances/space etc) and that goes for probably most on here. If I had a field and spare cash, I'd gladly buy all going BXs as reserve stock to all who needed it, but I can't (finances & space). So, without money and space, there is little I can do......sadly. We are all in the same situation (probably) so what realistically can be done?

How would the the 'cars for parts' be managed? i.e. someone buying parts cheaply from BXC stock just to fit to a car they are going to sell? It's been done right here on BXC with the parts donated for free by honest members. There is a difference between those trying to keep their workhorse on the road and those who buy/sell without any real restoration.. Same said buyer/seller also chose to not to 'pay back' even though he may gain personally and financially from aquisition ventures......not in the club spirit and not directed at you Jaba.

OK lets forget about the parts. That was just a maybe/if addition if you read my original post.

Its the cars I am on about. The ones that need a head gasket, clutch or have a hydraulic leak or something else simple and easy to fix.

I suppose I am casting around for other club members who share this dream and might want to come on board with the idea.

What has really got me thinking about this is the poor response I got the last two times I asked for spares and the credit crunch which will mean that the price of storage is going to come down a lot this year and it might be a good time to invest.

Oh well, dream on............................
The Joy of BX with just one Citroën BX to my name now. Will I sing Bye Bye to my GTI or will it be Till death us do part.

It's not going to be easy Jaba. Scrappies won't stock them because there's no money in it for them, the price of scrap increased and we live in a throw away society. All of those things have seen BX numbers decimated in the last 12 months especially.

I'd love to save them mate, but without the space to store them, I'd need an immediate sale - which is unrealistic. Even Medway have just advertised one for sale otherwise it will be scrapped. They are probably the most likely to be able to/be inclined to save a BX - they just can't all be saved.
