If you haven't invested in any parts yet, we can try substituting parts. Sure the coil on GTi and TZi of same year will be interchangeable.

YEEEEES, works fine with the new module. Here's a quick plug for Vehicle-electrics-online who quickly identified which module I needed, and delivered it within 2 days. Half the price of Citroen gen, and they included a bit of silicone heatsink conducting gel too. Also GSF who rapidlysupplied a reasonably priced coil (less than a quarter of genuine)
Now for the ABS light, track rod joint, drivers window & sloww starter......

I'll bet your not half pleased about that. It would have been a real disappointment if that didn't fix it.
It really pays to shop around.
Is there any chance you could post a photo of the layout of the coil/module/ecu and associated wiring.
It seems to be an unusual setup with no distributor as I understand it.
