Speedline question.
Stupid rookie question time....
Speedlines.... Do they come in different sizes and if so, what sizes of tyres fit what?

Nice one Matt. Thanks.
I've got winter tyres on the BX at the moment and I want to save them for winter use only. Therefore I want another set of rims to fit normal tyres to and I quite fancy a set of alloys.
I'll see how much money Melanie hasn't spent next month

Yes tha's what I've just done, steels & trims for the winter tyres and alloys for the summer tyres.

GTi 8v optional alloys (standard on hurricane and GTi 4x4) were 185/60 R14 "usual" speedlineMatt H wrote:8v GTi/TZD/TZI = 14x5.5j

GTI/TZDs are 175/185s of some description.
TZD Factory Optional Alloys were 165/70 R 14 but were a variation of the Mk1 Optional wheels.
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

So rare they hardly seem worth mentioningRoverman wrote:TZD Factory Optional Alloys were 165/70 R 14 but were a variation of the Mk1 Optional wheels.
If you do find a set of Speedlines Rich, make sure you get the flat-faced bolts too, they are very different to the ones on the steelies, and are a pain to find. The wider tyres will make any BX feel more sure-footed... I went from 165s to 195s and have never gone back Although I understand they aren't as cheap... so 185s are a good compromise.

I fitted the Speedlines on Saturday that I bought last week with 195 tyres on to the wifes TZD. I got home tonight to an angry Mrs wanting to know what i'd done to her car, 'the luxury limousine ride has gone and I can feel every bump and pothole in the road ? What ever you've done fix it'
Looks like I need to buy a set of 175's to put on

Got a picture? I've got two sets of alloys (both from TZD estates), for 165/70 tyres, and they're not the usual Speedlines.Matt H wrote:So rare they hardly seem worth mentioningRoverman wrote:TZD Factory Optional Alloys were 165/70 R 14 but were a variation of the Mk1 Optional wheels.
.
Speaking of which, a mate here has a good set of Speedlines for sale. From a GTi but I don't know which model. I could probably bring back to UK some time in the next few weeks.

Hmmm... They're nice.
I really want to stick to 165's because I already have 2 tyres. If anyone has a set of alloys for 165's for sale at a reasonable cost I would be interested. Oh and I need the bolts as well.
Not too bothered about condition as I would get them refurbed if needed.
Does anyone know if the PCD is the same for MG's?????

Can you? Mine must have been 6j then - I fitted 165s on a couple of them and it was sort of ok, but the profile was definitely wrong.Roverman wrote:You can fit 165/70R 14 on the 5,5J Speedlines no problem.
And yes, turns out the two sets of alloys I have are the same as in Matt H's pic. One set like that (fitted to the currently-in-use TZD estate which is the same colour as the one in the pic, but sadly not as shiny), one set with black painted centres - they need refurbing before I use them on the white TZD.

Can i add that although speedlines look great on BX's they are very easy to bend, and most of them these days dont balance up very well.
My last 16v (F644 SJT) had one seriously un-round one. Horrible.
