Re: HOW TO GUIDE: Aftermarket Remote Central Locking
Just wired my kit up. Slight difference in that the yellow and yellow-and-black wires needed to be wired to earth in addition to Jay's description. No biggy as that's how it showed in the wiring diagram for my (slightly different) lock kit.

I guess so, it dosent touch the roof mounted sensor as you just wire it to the central locking unit that the key operates in the centre console

Re: HOW TO GUIDE: Aftermarket Remote Central Locking
Ha, I love that my post was the last one on this thread! Bump for this excellent guide - just fitted my new 8v GTi with remote locking. Imagine the novelty of not having to have line of sight to the plip receiver!

Here's a new link to the kit that I used, since the one in the original post is now out of date. Click here for imported Chinese goodness

Re: HOW TO GUIDE: Aftermarket Remote Central Locking
Just installed my kit as per Jays instructions, had to earth the yellow / yellow black wires to wire 2 just like Dollywobbler.
Bought from http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/131305448459 ... EBIDX%3AIT
Why didn't I do this 5 years ago.
Cheers for the guide Jay!

Re: HOW TO GUIDE: Aftermarket Remote Central Locking
Does anyone have the pictures saved from this thread, as they are no longer working? Or could someone take a picture of how they wired the box into their existing setup so I can copy them? I have the kit from eBay but can no longer see what to connect to what! Cheers!

I suggest you PM JayW to get him to upload the missing pics direct to the forum where they will then stay permanently now.

Re: HOW TO GUIDE: Aftermarket Remote Central Locking
I did, no reply yet (probably busy) - was just hoping it would be super simple as so many have done it before but looks like I'm getting the multimeter out this weekend!

Re: HOW TO GUIDE: Aftermarket Remote Central Locking
Ive not got them on the PC anymore and photobucket screwed up my account so most files are lost.
I'll have a look and see if they're still on any of my back ups but it won't be til the weekend.

I don't have any copies, they're long gone.
Someone hacked my photobucket account and deleted EVERYTHING.

Re: HOW TO GUIDE: Aftermarket Remote Central Locking
That's a shame, but never mind!
For anyone who is trying to follow this guide, it's not too hard and you can still do it without the pictures. The thing I was missing was that it says 'pins are numbered thus' and there is a missing picture - I had assumed that you'd drawn numbers on the picture and that I needed it to know what's what. In actual fact, the numbers are printed on the plug in the car so you don't need the picture at all.
