BX40UK @ CCC National Rally 2023

Post by Kitch »

On 1st August 1983, Citroen launched the BX in the UK. 40 years later, with the earliest examples now on the cusp of being officially recognised as historic vehicles, it's time to celebrate it!

Image

BX40UK will be part of the Citroen Car Club's National Rally, held on 15th & 16th July (with the 14th a set up day) at Abbots Ripton Village Hall.
We're looking to get as many BXs as possible together for this weekend event, and we want YOU to bring yours along!
In addition to the usual National Rally event, we'll be looking to create a (partially) segregated parking section for the BX model, so they can all be together. The centrepiece will include the 'timeline'; A line-up of cars in age order, with one example per registration mark. (an A-reg car, then a B-reg, then a C-reg and so on).

Supporting this will be parking arranged into four main groups (to be announced later). We hope to have stickers, mugs and associated merch for the event, too.
There will be a parts 'amnesty' area, where people are encouraged to donate any old BX parts they no longer want in the hope they are of some use to another member/owner.

I'll be creating some kind of register-based info sheet on surviving numbers, which will be given to each attendee.
So far, I can confirm that 'Professor Tomato' of YouTube/TV fame will be present (all being well) and will be handed back over to James (aka 'YouTuber' Jayemm on cars) on the sunday, following all the work I'm doing with it.

If you wish for your BX to be in the timeline, please let me know either on here, or by emailing bx-register@citroencarclub.org.uk. I'm looking for cars that (ideally will be there the whole weekend, but substitutes can be arranged), and won't let me down! I can't promise you'll be picked as I want to try and keep the range of colours/models as varied as possible, but condition isn't important - you just need to love your car!
On top of all this, you've got the usual CCC events, including BBQ.

Hope to see as many BXs there as possible!

Sounds like a lot of fun!
We in mainland Europe already celebrated 40 years of BX, so it is nice to see you're about to do so as well. BXs varied so much throughout the years that it is bound to be a really interesting and diverse event. Hope to see many many BXs (at least on the pictures I'll be looking at from my place in Croatia/Serbia).
Have fun lads!

BX40UK Timeline update:
Hi all, so far I have the following slots filled (the cars in question will be revealed in the future):
  • A reg (two different 16TRS', with an 'RBX' car on the Sunday)
  • C reg Sunday (16TRS auto)
  • G reg Sunday (16v ph2)
  • K reg Saturday (TZD Turbo est)
  • L reg Sunday (TZD Turbo est)
Thank you to all who've contacted me and offered their cars so far, I have a 'pool' of cars I'm waiting to slot in, but I can't just do it 'first come, first served' as I want to try and avoid colour & trim clashes (so I don't end up with a silver E reg BX estate next to a silver F reg BX estate!)
I'm also focusing more on original-looking cars, but not exclusively.

I'm also going to be making some info cards for each of the cars there, so I need people who are DEFINITELY going on the day they've said. There's planning in the background based on your attendance.

Lastly, should you not make the timeline (which is purely decided on by model/colour etc., not condition or how much I like you) then the remaining BXs will be arranged in their respective groups.

If you want to submit your BX for the timeline, drop me a message on here (although I don't always get them, so might be easier to email me too: bx-register@citroencarclub.org.uk

Cheers!

I would love to be coming but I picked up a 6 month driving ban in May. Merde.
The Joy of BX with just one Citroën BX to my name now. Will I sing Bye Bye to my GTI or will it be Till death us do part.

Want an incentive to come to #BX40UK at the CCC National in just over two weeks time? (Ha! Like you need an incentive...) Well, you've got one anyway. All BXs attending the event will receive a free BX40UK mug and window sticker.

Don't have a BX, or want one for yourself? (the free one belongs to your BX, don't forget) Don't worry, they will be available to purchase too!

Just under two weeks to go!

(image on Facebook - it won't let me share it here as CCC and BXC are private groups on there)

I'd like to come, but currently, I don't know if I can make it as I'm waiting for some parts to arrive from France to put my car back together.

Is it in the same place as last year?
1992 Citroën BX 1.9 Diesel Meteor 4x4 - The Project.

1992 Citroën BX 1.9 TXD (with GTI engine; Mulleys old car) - Parts car.

2004 Citroën Xsara Desire. (Now gone).

2016 Ford Focus Zetec - Daily Driver. (Absolute bone shaker).

BX40UK news:

Don't forget that as well as the cars on display and the owners who brought them, there will be an area set aside for a 'Parts Amnesty'.
What, in the name of all that is holy, is a "parts amnesty", I hear you ask!

Simply, we all have a lot of parts hoarded. If you have some stuff that you no longer want, but cannot be 'arst' to advertise it or deal with the buying public, simply bring it along in a box (or similar) and pop it into the Parts Amnesty area, and it's gone! Something you have might help someone else out, and it's an area for BX owners to help out other BX owners with free tat....sorry, parts.

Anything left over at the end of the event, I'll take back and furnish my scrap bin with it, and it's out of your hair! Or garage...probably better to keep it in the garage.

Can be mechanical, trim, even brochures & booklets...anything you no longer want. Me? I'm bringing four beige mk1 doorcards. I'll never need them, maybe somebody else will?

*n.b. If you're going to bring something big, like an interior, wheels/tyres or bodywork, please let me know in advance, as if it's not claimed you'll probably have to take it home again!

If they are 14" or bigger and tyres hold air I am happy to take them off your hands.

Still looking for timeline cars:

If you're going Saturday and you have a C; H or L-reg BX, please let me know)

If you're going Sunday and you have an E-reg car (ideally not a silver one!) please let me know.
