170 mph BX
Well it must be true, it says in the ad
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1989-CITROEN-BX-G ... 0327406769
And it obviously used to be white. But in all fairness, it is listed as spares or repair, so could be worth considering as a donor/project. (Back you Puggers, back I tell ye! )

Philip/Tim !
I think the person who's put the listing on flea bay 'For A Friend' has probably got MPH mixed up BHP
Are those SIX spoke alloys in GOLD really SPEEDLINES as we know them ? as the listing states "SPEEDLINE ALLOYS delightful edition to the car"
Also its states :-
"This rare black Citroen BX has only covered 134000 miles designed to run forever."
That must be a 1st for any car ? Also is it a Rare Black ? As Philip has pointed out it was white !
When you look at the paint colour of the bottom left photo you can just see the O/S/R door on the inside is of a white finish and the drivers door opening is also white !
BUT IT IS OFFICIALLY BLACK ACCORDING TO THE DVLA INFO:-
The enquiry is complete
The vehicle details for G808 KGO are:
Date of Liability 24 01 2009
Date of First Registration 11 08 1989
Year of Manufacture 1989
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1905CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour BLACK
Vehicle Type Approval null
The information contained on this page is correct at the time of enquiry.
Vehicle Excise Duty Rate for vehicle
6 Months Rate £101.75
12 Months Rate £185.00
I also wonder if the crack in the front bumper is on the N/S as the 'FIT' of the N/S/F wing with the edge of the bonnet is also probably a 'RARE' feature of the vehicle?
But as the listing states its for spares/repair and if it goes for a small amount of money its probably worth every £ it eventually gets !

'Designed to run forever' Yes, the miracle everlasting car that's what they say about the 16v - saviour of the car industry, never have to make new ones!
And 'the crack in the bumper does not hamper driveability' ( that's the beauty of gas)
I've seen this one before or at least those Ratners wheels!

Indeed not, mine does 142MPH flat out.Roverman wrote: at 170mph the engine would need to be doing 8500rpm, I dont even think Docs car does that!
Odd that some random picture found it's way in to the listing though!
I'm sure that was the car that had buggered synchro's wasn't it?
IIRC a garage was selling it last time?
Er, I think it's more likely they're toalking bollocks TBH. A spec D6C was quoted at 160BHP, although very few that ever left the factory achieved that figure.RxBX wrote:I think the person who's put the listing on flea bay 'For A Friend' has probably got MPH mixed up BHP
Mine outs out 172BHP at a tad over 7100RPM, and it's all standard..but the engine was built by a bloody genius.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!
Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

There's so much wrong here, approach with caution. I'm impressed Tim with your observational skills, it would appear that the pics show two different BXs - one indeed an auto.
Speedline do make other alloys so I guess they could be made by them, but given how mixed up the description is, who knows? (If it were me, I'd respray the alloys dark graphite. Hate the gold.
Worth £200 for parts though.

Agreed, the 4 interior photos are of another white car, not a 16V.
I expect it will go for £250 or so for the engine as it runs.
I suspect its condition is much worse than the listing suggests, hence no MOT.
Who would ever auction a car with no MOT if they knew it would get one easily?
Mike

I emailed the seller with the following message:
And recieved the following replies:Hi, please could you tell me why the interior photos show a white car, but it is black in the exterior shots? Also, it appears to have an automatic gearbox, but that was never fitted to the 16v engine.
...and...myerror
I wonder why it's back for sale again so quickly though...Completl my fault he sent me all the pics of his new car and i have mixed them up, its manual and black.

They are definitley Speedlines, I seem to remember some talk of them being an optional extra or something?Philip Chidlow wrote: Speedline do make other alloys so I guess they could be made by them, but given how mixed up the description is, who knows?
