Long time no post, and sadly this is to find out if anyone wants to buy my 16V
I expect most of you on here know the history of my car, but here are the headlines:
Owned by myself since IIRC 1998, on the road up until the end of 2010, sorned since 2011.
Finished in Triton Green Metallic paint (Bonnet is fairly faded now due to the head gasket issue I assume)
Covered in the region of 120-130K - need to check the mileage, but had a new speedo at 80K.
Full stainless powerflow exhaust fitted - upto standard front pipe.
K&N air filter
Snap off kit (Removable wheel)
Momo black and silver steering wheel, I forget the model.
Lowered by around 5cm by PTS Developments.
Period Alpine stereo and boot changer.
Maintained irrespective of expense by PTS Developments and subsequently Witmun engineering.
Running on Team Dynamics 17" Monza, in Gold (I only have one original 16V wheel remaining which will go with the car, the rest having been given to my cousin who also had a 16V back in the day)
From memory I think I had these refurbed twice while I had the car.
Ollie of this forum said, and I believe I quote this correctly, that it was one of the best 16Vs, or nicest 16Vs he had driven - he did some paintwork for me sometime ago now, front and rear bumpers, and a repair on the drivers side rear arch where my gf had scuffed it down a wall As well as refurbing the wheels, and changing the front pipe.
Aside from that mishap, I can guarantee it has never been an accident whilst in my hands, no crashes of any description, and I'm fairly confident from looking under the bonnet and around the car, that it has never been in an accident.
I have changed the number plates, but will supply the old undamaged matching dealer plates to support the ‘it has never been in an accident’ line.
I also spoke to the previous owner, and he gave me the full history of the car – I’m basically the 4th owner.
The car was a company car for a lady who worked at Barclays bank, she then bought it when it was up for replacement, and it was passed to her husband, he then in turn sold it to his friend, the chap I bought it off.
I’m pretty sure it had a pretty sheltered life – when I bought it, the condition would suggest that at least the first two owners had kept it garaged, and I owned it for 2 years and it lived on my parents drive, and from then on it has been garaged.
In Autumn 2010 it was found to have a head gasket issue, and I took it to a recommended local garage in Thatcham - it was discovered that the cambelt had gone at some point, before I bought it (I expect at 55K) and had been badly repaired - amazing it ran so long and so well in that case.
The head had to be sent away to be repaired properly, and whilst that was done I had all the usual suspects done, water pump, cambelt etc etc, £1500 later it was back and working.
A few weeks later it would not start (Would turn but not catch), and my friend who I was kind of co-running the car with decided that he wanted to put his money into learning to fly a microlight, which was fair enough, so it got pushed into the garage, and has been there ever since, alas my mechanical skills are severely lacking.
Anyway - the definitive reason for the sale is that my girlfriend is expecting a baby in August, and alas that means we need the use of the small bedroom, which in turn means I need to find some space in the garage, and the BX has to go, much as it greatly pains me, it important to me that she goes to a good home.
We were given a 2001 Volvo V70 T5 (only covered 62K) barge which we have had converted to LPG less than a year ago, and that is the practical family car, and should go on for 10 years or more, so with huge regret it means the BX has to go.
We also both walk to work, so not even an excuse to keep it as a commuter.
FYI I used to get 37mpg out of it on a long run, surprisingly economical.
My honest appraisal of the car:
It's a good solid car, with a near mint interior.
It may need new tyres (Due to age more than mileage), and potentially a new battery.
The exterior is no longer mint, and it will need some paintwork for sure if you want to take it back up to it's former glory.
Up until this event it had always been a phenomenally reliable car, never failed to start, and is a joy to drive, I will miss it dearly.
I’ve seen a lot of 16V’s running, and I’ve never seen one idle as regularly as this one.
It is most definitely what I would term a project, but I can't see why someone with mechanical, or more importantly, Citroen expertise could not get it back up and running in very little time.
I could be wrong here, but I 'think' that Triton Green metallic is the rarest colour the 16V came in, and to my mind, and one reason why I bought it way back when, it is the best colour for the 16V – also comes with the standard and original green tinted rear light clusters, and I changed the orange side repeaters for clear ones which I personally think looks way better.
Of course it goes without saying that I would like it to go an enthusiast who has the time and passion to spend on getting it running and keeping it running.
In it's current state it will need to be trailered away really, so please do bare that in mind.
I do not know what it is worth, it's difficult to value a car you have spent thousands on and owned for 15 years, but my primary concern is that the car goes to the best home it can do, and is loved and appreciated by someone who has the time and expertise/money to spend on it.
I will try and push it out of the garage and take some pictures next weekend.

I need to check the condition of some other bits, but I also have a mostly complete interior (Seats and door cards) same as in this car, and also front and rear bumpers in white and fair condition - bought them from Ollie some time ago as 'just in case' purchases.
Still cannot believe I am doing this, you have no idea how long it took me to click submit.
