Ah, bad times. I can barely afford to run one car so fair play for managing to get two there...Roverman wrote:Because I couldnt afford to tax the GT this month Jonathan sadly as things are a bit tight, the main thing it was road legal and was there.jonathan_dyane wrote:Why the trade plates Tim?

well i thoroughly enjoyed Sunday and meeting everyone and a particularly big thankyou goes to Mat Fenwick for the lift from Stansted and the 'Phils' aka Chidlow and Kermit for then dropping me off to look at an XM. Phil/Kermit the frog helped me check all the vitals, and yes I exchanged some recently earned notes for alot of car! Its a 46000 mile 2.016v auto saloon in dark 'maritious'? metallic blue. Really good nick. It has comfort spheres fitted and the ride is quite breathtaking along a+b roads.. and v. quiet compared to the BX! It is a bit of a slug-mobile although does shift when you want and is like nothing else i've driven, should be a good cruiser if i can keep the fuel economy respectable. It feels like such a big car compared to the BX. I need to get the cambelt done and a thorough check-over by the garage once i've driven it back to Ireland tomorrow.
From what i've heard, I'm already paranoid about the auto box. It had an ATF oil change 3k ago. Its all smooth and no untoward noises, apart from lingering in 1st sometimes to what feels like higher revs than it should do for a light throttle, then lurching slightly after dropping into 2nd. It doesn't happen with a bit more gas and i wonder if this is a sign of anything. Er.. I should visit the XM club.
Anyway very happy with it. I don't have room for two cars so i am supposed to be selling the BX, but i'm wondering if i'll get back and have a whole new wave of BX appreciation when i drive it after having been in the XM. This is obviously how it starts. Collecting. Obsession. A fragrance by car lovers for car lovers.

Congrats on your new wheels. you'll have seen the blue XM estate in the pics I've posted? that one's an auto and the owner tells me he's never had any problems with his auto XM's. OIL CHANGES! that's the key. Just make sure your people are putting the correct stuff in!
