Well, I went to see this BX today and it's not too bad however it does have a bad LHM leak from the security valve.

Here are some extra photos in addition to those on the ebayer's listing:

The car before start up - bumper at front has had a few mild bumps so the trim is off.

And just to confirm that it does say 19TXD on the boot.

The car is very rust free - I checked the sills, floors, boot floor, front and rear subframes, door hinges and inner front wheel arches and there is no worrying rust - it's quite sound. There is a littl ebit of corrosion on the door hinge panel where the electrics pass through the trunking.

No rust on the sills or at the notorious junction between the sill and the rear wing/wheel arch

Engine sounded ok but it was very low on oil on the dipstick - oil was black (not as significant for a diesel though)
I felt that it was a bit oily looking down the back of the engine.

The Spheres were all serviceable - all with enough movement though definitely getting on a bit. Date on the fronts was 2002 (manufacture date)

Battery was not great and oil and filter really ought to be changed.

There was a noticiable blow at the rear of the exhaust just before the back box. Tyres all have enough tread but like the spheres, are definitely 'mid life'.

Hand brake travel was acceptable.

Clutch felt good (I moved the car about 3')

Interior complete and undamaged but needs cleaned.

The Hydraulic leak:
I was expecting this to be the return from the PRV but the LHM was gushing out at the security valve rubber return pipe. I have never seen this leak before so I'm not sure why. However, all of the hydraulics work, the PAS is smooth from lock to lock and with the engine on the rear end self leveled after short time when I leaned on the bumper.

The main accumulator however, is dead

What else.... O, the electric windows work but at least one of them falls off it's lifter.

The air blower doesn't work unless you squeeze a connector block so probably just needs contact cleaner to it.

Rear trailing arm bearings while not apparently shot, might be 1/2 on the road to ruin as it was hard to get your fingers between the tyre and rear wing. I forgot to look at the camber of the rear wheels though sorry.

So all in all it's a solid and complete BX TXD in need of an engine service but by no means is it a mullered engine! just needs oil and filters changed. It has no record of the timing belt being changed so personally, I'd change it to be safe.

MOT fails were:

exhaust blow

LHM leak

headlamps both insecure (the single, outer fixing has come adrift on both)

some lights inoperable.

So bid accordingly.

It of course, MUST be trailered away.

I think that's all but anything you can think of just ask. Otherwise contact the seller (who doesn't give a stuff what it goes for (even if it goes for say £40) it goes)

Well it hit £107.33 ! - I quite fancied that so thanks Greame for the info on the car. Once transport to essex was factored in it was too far for me ...but if anyone knows of a good diesel estate - let me know please. Steve
