It also has had a 3-spoke steering-wheel fitted now - those weren't standard on a TGD. I'd definitely want to know more about maintenance if I were interested, and see the thing in the metal.

Lack of meaningful detail & the ad cliches make me certain the seller isn't the one who specced it up.
Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.

Sorry guy's, i would go & have a look & report back my findings on here, but wifey has unexpectadly fallen ill & is in hospital, so this is the last thing on my mind at the mo. Once everything's sorted, i may contact the seller to find out more, but it wont be for at least a week (unless it sells of course).

Only 68,000 on the clock. However the guy says it doesn't have power steering. Interesting.

Any of you guys buy it?

If it's a turbo, the only way it wouldn't have powered steering would be if it was broken...

The big question is then, is it a turbo or simply a 17Tgd

You're thinking that the seller wrongly thinks the T stands for Turbo then Ken?

As the reg is very clear in the photo, it shouldn't be too difficult to check, assuming the DVLA did their job properly ... or that the seller is prepared to open the bonnet.

I have come across quite a few BX "turbodiesel" sellers whose cars have a T in the model designation but an airbox rather than an intercooler in the appropriate place, and the level of knowledge and care applied to this description would certainly match up with that profile.

However, the TGD turbo is certainly not a mythical beast - I've owned one before now, and a very fine BX it was too.

Alas DVLA status check does not provide the model, only the engine size which obviously doesn't help matters. An underbonnet shot would be the way forward...

It is (or at least was initially registered as) a turbo...

As part of a previous job I had access to an online database which could bring up details such as engine type, engine no., VIN number etc. I left there 3 years ago but my log on details still work!
