Parking a car on grass is the worst, but I don't know why. Perhaps it is the damp and the oxygen given off by the plants.

My BX is usually parked in my drafty garage, and it appears to be quite happy there, with no unexpected problems after 9 years.

I think a car port on a hardstanding would be just as good, probably better.

My 16v was parked outside for 8 years hence the rather fetching flat pinkish red that I like. I was considering giving it some more weather to make it even more flat but there's a fine line between rat and rot! And yes Carl you know - I do indeed have a barn, a big drafty about-to-collapse item that sees snow on the BXs within in winter! ( a good place to get away from family scene though in the more clement months - with sofa, radio and beers - a big shed. Just need a Pirelli calender)

Here's a frightening thought (slightly o/t sorry) I read in the local paper last night that official looking towtrucks are "removing" older looking cars parked at the roadside or on drives in this area. Mainly Wolverhmpton which is about 8 miles away. No one has challenged them because they do not look like the average tatter but are dressed in clean overalls and drive smart looking recovery vehicles. :( A number of cars have been taken, some quite valuable.
