Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!
Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Should one of these diodes become shorted, one warning light (eg. low LHM level) can trigger another one (coolant level) erroneously. The easiest way to check this would be to short the coolant level and LHM level sensors one by one to observe whether any of them triggers a second light, too. The oil pressure switch, on the other hand, is supposed to light up everything else: this is what happens when you turn on the ignition but do not start the car yet.
The diodes are very cheap from a common electronics store, a few eurocents each, so you could renew all of them while you're at it.
It would appear all you need to do is to fit a push-to-make switch that bridges the oil pressure switch. However as the BX does this check automatically when you turn the ignition on - is there any point to it?rayfenwick wrote:My CX 22TRS has a "check" button which lights all the warning lights when pressed. Maybe not a bad idea for a BX either - shouldn't be too difficult to fit (he says, now realising I've volunteered myself to experiment).

have you checked all the fluid level's,
i saw a fault years ago on a BX were all the warning lamps lit with the engine running,
turned out he engine oil was low but also one or more diode's had failed, which caused all the lamps in the lline to light up,
regards malcolm
