In prayer and supplication I set that poor GTI before the divine St. Jude - patron saint of lost causes and desperate cases (we get on quite well!). He just turned up his nose, shook his head and mouthed the word; 'nah'. Think that says it all really! :D

Phil,
I hope you were not thinking I was encouraging anyone (I was only having a laaaarf, hence the  smiley) !

The Black TGD that I scrapped recently which had stood on my drive for nearly 12 years had an almost rust free body on it, as you've stated this Red one in all probability will be rotten as a Pear !

Seriously, its obvious this one is only going to a parts/donor BX or if the garage/owner thinks its worth anything other than that, let it stand there another 10 years to turn into a pile of iron ore !

Sure Richard, I wasn't taking it all that seriously either (  )

Relatively rust-free BX shells will be worth more than their weight (literally) one day soon!

..that_ hence why I'd kept it in-case I/someone may have needed one but I eventually had to let it go due 'No room at the Inn' :(

Des, it was an old gas cooker I threw in the back along with a damaged BX door and some old drive-shafts to make up for the weight of wings/bonnet/front struts that I removed as I got the scrap price based on one tonne.
The Bonnet is now reserved and possibly the N/S/F wing, therefore I have available the O/S/F wing and a good pair of front struts (PM me if anyone is in need of them) ?

:)

oh **** erm to clarify i was joking too! lol i can put some smilies in to help the point if you like :?: . Lol Richard don't do it. Even if the enigne hasnt seized, what about hydraulics? My calipers and height correctors sezied or required a strip down after about 3 months of standing still. So with over a decade of standing still.

Have to say though richard..im coming round to this idea of electrics if it means no carb!

It might not be too rotten though; it is on tarmac at least. Then again...that hedge out of the rear bumper looks rather ominous

My reason for photographing it reeally was becuase i hadnt seen a Gti that early and it looks like my jogsaw puzzle.

Anyway slightly off topic. ive found something on ebay- a part but where should i put it; bx chat?? was hoping i could use it but apparently not.

happy bxing

Its too far gone even for me to contemplate but where i was coming from is whether its in danger of been scrapped and if so im sure would be better being cannibalised for spares for the GTI boys rather than just squashed.
As you know there splenty of room at the farm for storage etc.
