When the brake pipe unions won't move or ring off it is easier to drill and tap a new thread as they seal on the rubber seal without having to be completely tight. I have done this without a leak also on two rear suspension cylinders which are even worse for corrosion on the unions.
We are talking about the right sort of nipples aren't we? I don't want to go off topic..
These one's are normally 'hand-tight', a spanner won't be necessary ( don't blame me, you perverts started it!
