RBX was Carmarthen plate and was clearly an arrangement between Citroën UK and the licencing Authority so as to get the xBX. Early Citroën UK press cars were Axxx RBX and of course were sold on in due course...... Later Citroën UK cars were on Berkshire plates.

That's right. My red 16v is a Citroen UK car and was originally on an 'MO' reg. Don't think it was a press car though!

I also looked up the location code and it was first registered in Sheffield, where it was registered 1 month and 1 week after Timex. If it's been sat in that field all that time, I can only imagine what it's like underneath, but it's definitely straighter than mine on top, and I actually prefer the colour - not the usual blue!

Not sure what this says in terms of how early a BX it is.

Anyone know of other running Mk1s in Ireland? When Noel O'Dwyer of the CCC was compiling a database of old citroens for this country it seemed to me that at the time of contacting him he knew of 11 BXs (running/drivable i assume) in this country but they were all Mk2 (except my Mk1). It'd be interesting to know.

a customer of mine runs a real heap of MK1 reg No. A994 JLL,
it lives in Hastings the owner is completely coocko and the car is trashed inside and out, but its still MOT'ed and in daily use,

I think I have the only TXD in New Zealand! I say I think because everytime I have tried to get insurance the model is not on the database because it was not a model sold in NZ according to a respected dealership. The most rare engine size would be the 1400cc from which I understand none were sold in NZ only overseas importation by private owners! The other reason is back in the 80s the highest grade of leaded fuel was 95 octane.

It does surprise me the amount of 16valves that were on the road, given Leaded fuel was phased out in 1996 and the higher octane 98 was not marketed until the early zeros.

Whats this got to do with UK BXs you ask? Erm nothing except the TXD of mine is from the UK and was on the UK roads for 3 years you cold say me and the TXD speak the same language

I think I have the only TXD in New Zealand! I say I think because everytime I have tried to get insurance the model is not on the database because it was not a model sold in NZ according to a respected dealership.

The insurance database is crap in the UK too! Every time I get a quote from an insurance company they tell me I have a 16V whereas in reality I have the BX GTi (8 valve). This always causes extra time in debate which when I win gives them problems in often needing to contact their underwriter before progress can be made. They blame DVLA but the V5 details are correct. Fast forward a year and its the same rigmarole again, never rectified despite requesting remedial action each year!!!

I have the same problem with one of my Dyanes - many insurance companies list Dyane 6 Weekends, where as mine's a Dyane 6, the only difference being the rear seat on mine doesn't fold. When I tell them mine's not a weekend I've been told they cannot insure it!

What if you told them that you'd only drive it at the weekend? That would be alright surely?

Having played around with the register for some time, I stumbled upon this old thread and can tell you that currently, the earliest surviving BX in the UK is A2** RBX; A red 16TRS built in June 1983.

So there you go!
