Yet to drive a BX in its home country. Various other things including a 3 speed laden Fiat Ducato with a Stirling caravan on the back. The gear selector attop the gearbox fails and you loose First and Second. In 400 miles I only twice had to manually select First to get us going by good map reading. Of course, in France a local garage just welded it up as a known fault, building up more metal to make it stronger.
Much more fun was the Matra Murena as you can see to overtake. Something of a novelty. Anyway the Estate should be going over within the year to reclaim inherited bits of crap from folks expat cottage. Do we sell or share it between three?

It's always nice to have a base to head for and it's good to be able to share the running costs if you're all of the same mind. Properties take soooo long to sell in France, especially older houses in rural areas. Most French buyers are looking for modern houses and apartments with all the mod cons and tend to avoid anything which needs work or isn't state-of-the-art. They tend to think of Brits as slightly deranged for wanting to buy old properties to do it up.

Another thought that has probably already occurred to you is holiday lettings. Depending on how 'touristique' the area is, you can probably make it earn some money for you. The only downside of that holiday rentals attract French tax and by all accounts, they pursue their wedge with some enthusiasm. You can run lettings through an agency and recently this company have been advertising with promotions. They're part of Trip Advisor, so they have a big potential audience to tap into.

Here is the poor old GSA (?) shoved in the old mill race. How did they get it in there? How do you get it out of there? Is it holding the water back?

Sadly our property in the Lot is unrentable as the upper floor needs the beams replaced and would not insure. Its a damned uncomfortable layout as far as I am concerned. Yet I helped build much of it for my folks as it is what they wanted. A classic where do you go, well I would not start from there. Super 20ft by 40ft by 40ft tall tobacco barn and nice fields. I would start again with the barn and not have the cottage. Outvoted now its done by the rest of the family who were anti them going out there and did minimal work. To many things to do over here at the moment. Let them look after it - not. Already lost much of the plumbing and part of the walling. So its unsaleable. I will wait till they do not want it and get it cheap again, perhaps.

The Dutch boys do like their hydropneumatic Citroens. They weren't damming up the Herengracht by any chance?

Fascinating pics. Judging by the black stripe and (former) fog lights it may have been a GSA X1 or X3...

For some reason the image loading is refusing to work on the correct thread. However the Dutch really like the 1100/1300 too. They call them Gliders. The Messerschmitt is a KR175. I have the front of this car in my shed. This is obviously an old picture and very owner and serial Schmitt racker is the one and only now Mill owner. So I can get away with it.
