I think the thing is none of us like to be shown a BX that is in such a state. We know they are around, but it's not an easy thing to look at! Think a vandalised work of art, or a collapsing old cottage, a majestic old oak tree dying of disease ... and so on. Not pleasant to see...

Fair point - but £50. But compare that to Tim's £47 BX - or even Cavmad's fabled £1.60 BX (is that around still?!)... not to mention Ken's £60 Estate. And all of a sudden £50 seems expensive

It lives on in spirit but not in body! Various BX`s all over the country are alive because of it!

Somehow I expect he knew that in the first place - can't say I'd bother if I was only asking £50 - might as well scrap it and save myself the trouble of doint those things and having to deal with the e-mails and bother of e-bay.

(Collection's free round here at the moment)

I`m not suprised Jeremy, it`s about £60-£70 per ton at the moment for scrap cars. I expect they`re only too happy to collect for nowt, they`re not daft are they?

He hasn't dropped the price --- it was £25 last time as well (170035500111). I think he must have been a Citroen specialist garage or something like that. He's been selling loads of Citroen tools and stuff like Citroen bunting for some time now. I bought some stuff from him including a Citroen supplied specialist toolkit. He sold a nice looking Xantia VSX TD recently for £165 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... %3AIT&rd=1
But he's definitely given to understatement.

Billy - you're right - a glance in my local free paper shows someone paying £25 for complete larger cars for scrap.

I also noticed loads of steel scrap waiting to be loaded onto a ship on the River Itchen - I expect I'll be able to hear them drop it in tomorrow - makes a distinctive noise and took me ages to work out what it was!

The seller was a Citroen dealer up until a few years ago and has maintained the car since 1993 for a customer who traded it in. It has had the rear arm bearings, head gasket, and cambelt changed. He does MOTs and quoted £30 to fit a pump if one can be supplied.
