Such a pisser, isn't it, when you think back over your parents' car history and spot a few lovely examples you'd love to have been able to get your hands on, if only you were old enough!
Aaah, I would have my parents Saab 99 Combe Coupe Automatic...it was in metallic turd brown but I loved the car....I have not seen one since the day they sold it. In classic Saab stylee, it went like sh!t off a shovel.

Reg was 22EXX...cool eh?

Capri, were you by chance in Leigh Tupperware services on Saturday? I saw a rather nice black Capri with red striping..but you/he naffed off when I came running towards you/him waving my arms like a maniac!!

Interesting talk about the engines. Catheram 7 used the 1.6 x flow and proved a great engine with tuning potential. They also used the 2.0 ltr Vauxhall unit which although not necessarily quicker (a heavier unit) had much more torque and proved almost indestructible.

I like the Capri, a nice motor, one I would like in a collection!!

I'm afraid to say it wasn't me mate. Mine won't be sighted out and about on the road until Easter time really, now, as I only get to drive it when I'm at home in Southampton for my breaks! :( Still, not to worry! Incidentally, it's easy to spot mine because, rather than the usual 'thick red' over 'thin silver' stripes, mine got the 'thick silver' over 'thin red' stripes - if I'm making no sense, have a butchers in the pic and you should be able to see what I mean! Glad to hear the love for Capris is still alive and kicking among non-Ford enthusiasts too, I have to say! :D

The Saab sounds rather cracking - rare beasts now, although I think they never were that popular in the UK until the 900 came along. I'll always have a soft spot for Saabs after my 9000. Cool reg too!

Right, Thin silver over black? No, thick silver over black? No, thin red over thick silver?..Oooh, just drive it topless and I'll know when I see ya! Kind of thought yours would be 'tucked' up for the winter...

     I won't drive it topless, mate. Nobody wants to see my moobs. Nobody deserves that! Nah mate, I don't tuck the Capri away for winter. It's a car, it was made to be driven, so drive it I damn well will. :D Plus the colder, dryer air on a frosty morning makes it quicker - and more tailhappy!
