Lol im only talking about wheeltrims. They launched the TG series of cars in 1989 just before the facelift (smoked rear lights and new wheeltrims etc) but only as a 1.4TGE(replaced the 14RE) and a 16TGS(replaced the 16RS), then for the 1990 MY they facelifted the whole range and the keeping the new models and rebadging the 17/19RD a 17/19TGD and the TR trim cars became the TZ series cars (with new 2 tone bumpers) and most changed was the 16v with the new bumpers and 2 tone alloys and the sytlish Z type wheeltrims.
At that time the newly launched 14TGE/16TGS changed inline with the facelift so the whole of TG range had the same 4 square recess type truim with seperate valve cover (which promplty fell off)
So the 14TGE/16TGS pre facelift model is a rare car indeed as they only made them for a few months.
The speical edition Meteor (1.6 or 1.9D) cars as Ian pointed out is a mechanically a TG car with a special black interior with Gti style seats, GTi rear spoiler, the same wheeltrims as briefly seen on the prefacelift 14TGE/16TGS models, and the introduction of a chrome effect grille, stainless steel bumper inserts and special Meteor graphics and coachline.
The TX series of cars are is basically a meteor without the graphics availble anow as a 1769cc turbo diesel aswell as the 1.9D/1.6 and a wider range of colours was available.
I need more interests.

But in that case, surely the wheeltrims aren't in fact original trims? because they belong on a 14TGE, rather than a 14RE, which this is?
Do correct me if I'm wrong, by the way - I'm genuinely asking the question because I'm confused.

I think you're wrong Tim.
*anal mode on*
Those trims were first used on the Meteor, which as people have correctly pointed out, was a ltd edition of the 16TGS/19TGD.
The std TG* models had the 4 recessed square type ones with said valve cap cover. They replaced the RE/RD models, which had the early design wheel trim....same as a mk1 TRS but with the little ovals finished in silver not black as per the mk1 cars.
The TX* range was basically a Meteor with the same trims, but available in more colours and with a TD engine. Those trims were only ever used on Meteors and TX's.
*anal mode off*
If anyone proves me wrong, I'll learn something new! But I'm fairly sure I'm right.

TZ's, excluding the TZD Turbo hatch as that had the GTi look trim, or alloys.
Basically the 16/19TZS, 19TZD and TZD Turbo estate. They all had black capping around the tops of the bumpers and in my opinion, they were the most handsome workaday BX's you could get (excluding Hurricanes, valvers etc etc)
(Thats the UK spec anyway

I dont have a scanner though but its in my compilation of BX testdrive reprint book I bought which Ian Fearn boorrowed off me and can vouch for it.
