the red stains on it are not blood by the way... :wink:

i hit a red AX (side on) that pulled out in front of me, i was going about 20-30 mph. the AX continued to trundle forward (driver had blanked out) and crashed into a glass shop front. all very dramatic!
fortunately no major injuries sustained on either side and i managed to get £600 out of the AX driver's insurance with which i bought the 16v.

they've now installed traffic lights at the junction where it happened. for bristolians it's the junction just south of the railway bridge on cheltenham road.

Did it still run btw, i imagine the AX was in quite a state as they are very thin metal on those and no side impact bars or airbags.

Still at least it got you in a valver!

You're in this part of the world St Gaz?

I've seen a few white valvers round here, but I know most of the owners...

yes it still ran fine. great pity as i'd just spent a shed load on getting the head gasket done. didn't use a drop of oil, sweet as a nut etc.

the ax was trashed - driver was lucky really. i kept having dreams afterwards that she had a kid in the back, but i think it was just her.

anyway this was all years ago in 2001. i've had 5 years+ of valver fun now, no looking back 8)

i used to have a 14TGE a few years back

it was my first Bx and it was free :shock: the owner gave it away :shock:

it was fast, cheap to run a great little car, it's a pity that we don't get the estate version here 8)

Think your geting a little confused doc, :wink: I dont think i have ever been to Bristol. So you cant blame me for the lights. :lol: However have been across the severn bridge a few times (old & new) but not in my bx. Come to think of it i think the furthest i have been in my bx would have to be either Bath or London.

I have no idea how I came to that conclusion, and I aint much to drink lately, so I've got no excuse! Must be getting....er.....oh....I forget!?! :wink: :lol:

I have my 14 RE coming back to me at the end of the month and Chris and Mark's St. Tropez should be coming to me in part ex with Sally.

Nothing better than a 14 IMHO I've had a MK I leader, a Preview, a 14TGE in red, and a Silver RE. The silver RE is probably the best BX i've owned even better than my beloved mint TXD estate...

Unfortunately I have never owned a roadworthy one I have two to collect and put back on the road but not for a while yet..a phase 1 & 2..

If you have a TU engine 14 (not the earlier one), and fancy putting a water temp gauge on, you don't need to buy a sensor !

The GTI sensor is used on the 14 to bung a hole in the thermostat housing. No wires go to it ! So all you need is a gauge from a GTI, and you're set.

Could also be interesting to know if you see a 14 in a scrapyard with the engine still in...
