Ive got a habit of snapping fixings taking door cards out, so I'd probably try it from the outside by taking the rub strip off. Phase 1 mk2 had rear door speakers didn't they? May get access to tap it out through there.

Paint is nice though. Doesn't look pinked at all.

Don't think so Matt. At least not in my experience. There were sometimes C Pillar speakers though.

Your right thgere phil rear speakers were only ever fitted in the rear C pillar, I imagine there wasnt room in the door.

Someone had fitted rear door speakers into my old GTI so there has to be room, they were about the same size as the front door ones.

They would have to sit proud of the door though if they were recessed I would imagine thwy would catch on the window.

There were what looked like 5" speakers in the rear doors of my GTI (possibly used to be yours stewart? I know it's done the rounds, reg F561 RLO). They don't look like a retro fit as there's a cutout in the door panel for them to fit in which is all painted over. I've taken the 5" ones out (which were a flush fit), as they sounded like assembly at the local special school and replaced them with the 6.5" speakers from the front doors of the bx we scrapped. They pull the door card about 1/2" proud, but you really can't tell unless you're looking for it.

The TZD (mk2 ph2) has the rear pillar speakers (4" drivers?) though, hence I thought it was a mk2 ph1 thing.

I'll be getting in it in an hour or so to go home :).

Fixed several electricals, half repaired the break-in damage (its water tight and touched in, but the door edge needs nibbling straight, skimming and repainting), re-carpeted the boot, replaced a fog and headlight and re-done some of the wiring to the passenger side, replaced 2 spheres and a few bulbs. Stuff still to do : passenger strut return pipe, passenger front brake sticking when warm, poss rotor arm replacement needed and both bumpers to be smoothed and sprayed, dash bulbs to be replaced, heater control valve needs freeing off or replacing (have replacement but its a twat of a job). Will possibly add some alloys (have some non bx alloys in the back graden that'll fit, just need bolts, if not then it'll either get speedlines or be left on the original steels and trims), then its off for a MOT and it'll be for sale. Planning to get this done by the end of June (weather permitting as I have no garage), but we shall see.

Current mileage is approaching 123k, so may get the belt and pump done at the MOT.

I got it :).

Cost me the princely sum of £296 and am collecting on Thursday.

Concidering I was budgeting for £400 for my green tzd (mot, tax and service) I'm quite chuffed.

Now...what the hell am I gonna do with 3 BX's?

Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Seller pulled out last night. Gutted and now carless too. Tax refund sent off on the GTI yesterday, and the TZD has no MOT. I'm looking at a weeks wait plus a hefty bill as I now have no choice but to get everything done at the garage as I need it asap.

Apparently the car has lost all its fluids while its been parked up and will need trailering.

Nice Meteor just came up on the 'Bay - and there's also a relatively cheap GTi Auto there too - lots of choice at the moment - and if you make an offer you shouldn't be carless for too long

Needs to be a TD of some sort really and cheaper than the servicing/tax/mot on mine. I wasn't even looking for one, it was just a cheaper option as it was already MOTd and taxed. I'll just get my TZD sorted, but wasn't planning to have to rush it all through.
