Well if i had £400 id buy it rip the engine, box, loom and ecu out. Sell them to a pugger for £650 spend the £650 on my 16v and rip the body apart for spares for my 16v and put them in my stores.

Can you really get £650 for the engine, box and loom?
It should be remembered this one doesn't run and should be priced accordingly imho.

yes hence the reason if i had £400 sitting around id do it. It doesnt matter wethere the engine runs or not. the mi16 is now in short supply so a box, engine, loom and ecu would altogether fetch £650. As no one is willing to pay the piddly £400 asking price its obviously going that way

Very true Rob. It's market forces really. If we cared about the 16V population that much we would pay a couple of hundred more.

Its always a shame to see these cars get broken up for the sake of the engine but if you tried to save everything you'd just end up with a field full of knackered BX's!

I can't (and don't) blame the seller for offering it in bits, his car and his choice and if he can get more money in parts then fair enough and good luck to him.
I'd only suggest it looks too good to break up and that £650 seems a lot of money for an engine, box and loom.

I totaly agree billy, £650 is a hell of a lot of money for an engine, box, loom and ecu but the mi16 is a very desired engine and if someone wants to pay that then its up to them. But its the puggers forcing the engine prices up in the first place lol!. As for the 16v concerned just because its got a shiny body doesnt mean its any good. For example how long has it been sat? has it been sat on grass? what are all the suspension pipes like underneath? fuel lines? boot floor and chassis rails? rear arm bearings? the list goes on. I fell in to a trap onece where i paid £600 for a nice shiny grey 16v ph2 (g582cpu) only to find out that the rear chassis rails were rotten, benind the rear bumper was rotten, boot floor was rippled and rotten in fact it was a write off so i had no choice but to break it and sell the engine etc and bits to get my money back so beware........

Fair comment Rob. Be interesting to see what happens with this one then. As someone says you can't save them all.

Spoox motorsport in leicester advertise mi engines from £650! box's and looms etc extra!
the engine hunters will pay up to £500 ish for a non runner and £650 for a running car!
so £400 for the car is not above market value for a 16v! tzd yes! 16v no!

unfortunately though, 205 guys are all heading over to the gti-6 lump as its proving easier to find and is a better engine over all, (can pick up an ealry phase 1 forr £1k, the half leather / alacantara interior is worht £350-400 if in good condition, the wheels will fetch £250 easily with tyres, the elecy window switches are fetchin £40 a pop! thats before you get into panels etc! ) so much like the 16v's they are headign the route that a good one is going for the engines!

its about time that the users on here realise that the 16v's are actually worth decent money! running or not! (maybe then some of the 16v owners will return to the forum, rather than banging their heads on a brick wall all the time!   !!!)

but the valvers are worth money as scrap, and the diesels are worth money as a car. You can only scrap a valver once, but you can drive a weasel everyday!

Also, theres no longer duty to pay on the first 2500litres of vegetable oil that an indivudual uses in a day, ie diesels now run on free fuel :D

Havent seen a working valver go on ebay for much over £300 for many months now so i suspect that perhaps the rush to destroy them all is over (405's still seem to fetch around the £450 mark though). And everyone sensible knows you pay Spoox for convenience not for value.

A car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it mate at the end of the day.
I've spent stoopid money on mine, and it still looks battered and cack. Drives great, but it looks crap.
I wouldn't get a tenth back of what that car has cost me if I sold it.

Oh, and since admin dont like me over on the 16v site I cant come back!
