A hesitant 16

You can get this hesitancy at 2 to 3000 revs on a light throttle if the ignition is retarded or the vacuum advance is not working.
Easy to test the vacuum module by simply sucking on the tube to the distributor.

Yes, and of course it's worth checking the vacuum advance hose is actually connected up at both ends - the hose is apt to perish and split.

I drove my BX for ages before realising that the hose had dropped off the vacuum capsule on the distributor - who knows how long it had been like that!

I've just checked ours and surprise surprise the tube is split at the carb. Just shortened it and re-attached it so will wait and see if 'er indoors notices any change.

Been out in it today after fixing the pipe and the hesitancy has completely gone! My faith has been restored!

Ours does 33mpg on a run and 26mpg on the daily run according to er indoors.

Its still a lovely car to drive, I just wish we could use it more often. I keep toying with the idea of an LPG conversion. We've got quite a few LPG stations in Derby.
