Phase 2 wasn't Motronic but Jetronic at introduction. The improvement to Motronic wasn't fitted until 1991 model year.

This car is a 1990 so should be Jetronic.

Really? I had a 1990 GTi with Motronic I'm sure. But there you go. Learn something new every day.

As a matter of interest, when exactly did mark 2's get their facelift to Ph 2? Was it 1990 model year? (with the smoked rear lights and plastic-coated pipes etc)...

You could have had a 1991 model year registered at the end of 1990 but this car was registered in March 1990 so is definitely a 1990 model year.

I would say 1990/1991 model year (& yes to smoked/plastic) but some say no actual distinction as they believe Ph1/Ph2 only applies to the 16v with the change to whale tail & bodykit.

Thank you, gentlemen, for your valuable input. In the end I've decided not to go ahead with the deal. I pray it's the right decision.

Sounds too good to break, but I guess, in all fairness he did sell it/offer it still with no takers so I suppose it wasn't as tasty as it looks.

reply from seller.

Dear 16vtimmy,

not at all friend....the car did sell,i had 94 watching, and the car sold for a poultry £360. the winning bidder, turned up after 3 days, checked out my car on my property, said nothing and went home. when i asked when he was coming for it he basically called me a liar, and threatened me with "further action" for misdescribing the car?. As you say the car is too good to break, but if people don't understand that it's a used car, not new, then it's not worth the hassle and loss of reputation. sad i know but that's how it's gettin' regards f.

Seems that somoene expected a little too much for there money, If someone SERIOUSLY interested then I would get in touch, he knows he wont get much in parts.
