fair comments ,

I was just thinking back to my yoof when we used to make fibreglass canoes for about £40.00

it seems funny though but when you check other forums, rear window louvres are such a desirable object for bx's, golf mk2's and mk3 escorts even 340/360 volvos. the last golf mk2 one went on ebay for over £80

the volvo guys also worship cavity covers like the bx ones and a thing called a snow cap which goes over the bonnet vents.
richard grant made a lot of these things back in the day

Interesting indeed. Actually, if it wasn't for the fact we're talking injection moulding in transparent coloured ABS/polystyrene etc. with a painted (silvered) reverse side, but instead about a 'solid' opaque casting from a mould, we'd be talking affordable.

Don't get me started on BX4TC look-alike bulges

The two /\ photos from THIS thread (For Ref.)

IIRC, the rear window Lourve as featured on Tim's GTi (above) was donated to Phil for the BXAGON 2009 Cancer fund.
But did anyone actually buy it Philip ? or is it still available for Kevan to for-fill his ultimate BX dream look !

The louvres look ok but in reality are a royal pain in the bum, you cant see jack and they dont stick on that well.

Good idea about cutting up some appropriate other lenses to match the missing bits
Did that for the rear mudflaps with the 3 little reflectors. Getting the new pieces in was a struggle - until I washed the mudflaps in the sink and found that the rubber becomes flexible enough in hot water.

To answer the second of those points, I'm afraid it sold for £10 in the end. I would've expected more, but there you go. I am just so appreciative of those who donated and those who bought. In the end, we raised well over £600 by selling stuff. =D>

On to the BX4TC mouldings. In a word or two; utterly impractical to even consider it.

BUT, the wheel arch bulges, front end and rear elements could be 'emulated' and added to a BX. Why? Well there's the rub. The only reason it might be worth considering was if the BX was being changed 'underneath' - increasing the track/width/size of wheels and tyres (one reason to do this would be to allow for bigger discs/calipers for instance). The body, prepared for fast road/track day use would need to be modified anyway. The wheelbase remains the same but if for example a 4x4 set up from a Peugeot Mi16 4x4 was being transplanted, then I can see why a bit more width could be needed.

But in the end, you do have to ask yourself why bother? There are some pics of a turbo-charged 16v somewhere, which seems to have modified wheel arches and comparatively massive wheels... and aesthetically I can see the appeal in these E30 BMW M3/Audi Quattro-esque (or Vauxhall Nova LOL) arch bulges... but... unless the car is demonstrably better that the 'standard' BX there's no real reason to muck about with it.

If, on the otherhand, a tuned 16v 4x4 was deemed feasible then I can see the bodyshell changes as being entirely justified - even if it is a bit of an excuse to pimp the ride :)

yes they do work extremely well in terms of style! Especially as the Bx has that long low sloping rear window. It also keeps the sun off my two children in the back and keeps the car cooler in summer. Mine's been on there for almost two years now - it depends how well you stick them on Tim!

Also, the one that I have on my TRD and the one that Tim had/ Phil sold are not the original Citroen items. The original ones have to be drilled into the rear door and they are much larger. I have two of them from that 'barn of parts' including fixing kits but I was reluctant to get out the drill and destroy the original door on the 16v . Thus I have swapped rear doors for the purpose, along with some other pieces..

Well, to be honest, it's not that bad, looking at it again. Most of the damage will be invisible once the glue is applied and the number plate's over the top. That missing bit is annoying, but I'd be tempted to remove the other side too to even it up. Tidied up it could pass muster quite easily. The tailblazer I have just repaired now looks like this.
