Hi Hilary - off topic but I haven't forgotten about that LeCoulant lightweight. Pics are on the camera but I've been flat out working and preparing for the Duo Normand race this weekend. Promise I'll get round to sending them soon.

I've got copies of both - I could do a 'scan and post' if anyone wants to have a look but isn't that bothered about getting their hands on a copy? It's all in 'foreign' anyway! :D

That would be brilliant, I wonder if some really clever person could do a translation post to go with it. I only have 1970s O level French and I don't think we did much about les voitures.

I can begin the translation : 30 ans de la BX ( 2ème partie ) means 30 years of la BX ( 2nd part )
My job is now done 8)
I let some work to the other translators
30 pages for 30 years …that's something…!!!

Told you it was long - Part 2. to follow.

Here’s a precis’d translation . . .

The BX was a car made by Citroen. Citroen are French company that makes cars. It came out in 1982. There were loads of different kinds in loads of different colours and only Tim Leech knows all of them. They stopped making it in 1993. It was a really good car. It was replaced by the Citroen Xantia. The Citroen Xantia is a really crap car. THE END 8)

^ I have no life, but even I think it's too short to attempt a word-for-word: my French simply isn't up to it within any reasonable timescale. I can, however, provide a summary :D

Pt 1: there's the history of the design, together with economic context (PSA in deep trouble towards end of 70s), then a whole bunch of technical stuff with some very nice pictures, a bit about the marketing campaigns, colour and trim options, then special editions.

Pt 2: the split between the 2 parts is obviously Mk1/Mk2 (séries) from dates :D Pt 2 has some discussion about the competition which meant that Citroen had to up its game, lots more tech stuff accompanied by lovely pictures, a half-page on the different models and their successors which would be confusing in *English* let alone foreign, a celebration of the GTi/4x4, more pictures and the end of the manufacturing tale ...

The other bit you'll be missing from a scanned version is how lovely the magazines smell - something about the ink, hmmmm-mmmm.

Fantastic =D> : I didn't have it and now I can read and understanding very easily : strange isn't it ?
I really love the way you summarize : the shorter is the better and as some says in France : "droit au but "

Exactly …that's it : you're completly right =D>
It's the same thing when you enter a car : the smell : that's the reason why I prefer non restored car ( except if smell can be kept …and that's not so easy )

You're doing pretty well in that case. I've seen the modern G.C.S.E. syllabus. They get shown a map of the world, are asked to point at the bit that's France and that's it . . .A*! If they point to Germany, Belgium or Holland . . . that's near enough, you've passed! :D
