Perhaps unsurprisingly, it sounds like you want a Golf TSi? Distinctly uncomfortable, but they do cruise well and 'whoosh' through the gears with ease. I think outside shoe horning in the CT (which will be rather a tight squeeze), you need to be looking either at serious engine mods, or another engine maker. Citroen just don't do performance engines in there every day cars!

An AJ133 would probably do the trick, but you'd have to tow it behind the BX!

Yes!!!! Get an XM - they're just a giant BX after all... A lot less hassle than a conversion... You will NEVER regreat getting an XM :)

If you're going to TCT a BX Tim then go for an aut oand then you'll have a lovely cruiser. LPG it and get great economy too

In fact the TCT in the XM is more economical than in the Activa because it's a bit higher geared...

Never thought of it like that Malcolm :D

For one who is into his X series Citroens it seems quite appropriate.

How it happened is now lost in the mists of time :(

Ds3 Racing, engine and 6 speed gearbox. Find a insurance write off, conversion should be possible with some ingenuity.

Seems TCT's are rarer that I though, and problematic according to the FCF, so maybe I will look at mi16 power instead, or maybe a GTi 6???

Tim, I don't think you're getting this mate

Mi16 (come on, D6C, please!) and the RS (GTi-6 lump) are revvers and screamers. They're no good for what you're outlining.

Although if you do a TCT conversion on a BX I'll eat one of my kids dirty nappies.

Ahh well, whatever floats your boat Kitch

Tim, I see a lot of views have been expressed on the FCF regarding the TCT engine. I share Citroenmad's view...

I actually like the TCT because it's a quiet, smooth engine with lots of low-down grunt and a very lazy, laid-back nature. It'll never set the world on fire but if you want a laid-back cruiser then you'll find it hard to beat...

Imagine a diesel with a bit of go but none of the drawbacks. yes, it's not exactly parsimonious but if driven sensibly it's well adequate.

I speak from experience of being a long-time runner of a TCT engine and in both guises...
