Yes, they never did manage to spin the marketing like the rest of Rover group mind. When the 800 was launched they made a big thing about how they cared so much about the cars they built that the doors were hung by hand, unlike the competition. Apparently the truth was that the tolerances on the bodyshell were so wide that it was the only way to get the doors to fit!I think if you check now its still the same! I am told they line the door up and then drill the holes!
