that is an absolute bute! it brings back lots of memories from years gone by, and i agree it should be in the club so why dont we all chip in a few quid and buy it ?
I will personally put £50 in the kitty if anyone is interested i would stump up the whole lot and put it on the drive but i cant afford the divorce!!

We don't want any disputes over this.... it is imperative that we bag it for the club however.
I'm not sure how we're going to handle it if there is an automatic bid stealer in the mix.
I'm afraid I can't contribute anything because I'm stony broke
But we need to get a concrete figure that Stu can bid up to with certainty. We need a whole consortium of people watching the end of the auction me'thinks. If necessary perhaps some blanket bid bombing right at the end.
So Stu, if you win it, I'm meeting you in a field somewhere for some muddy powerslide action shots, yeah?
(Just kidding Tim.)

Bid up to your max plus what us here are willing to contribute... I don't know if there's another tenner or two floating about out there???stuart_hedges wrote:Are you guys being serious![]()
I've already told the guy I'm willing to bid up to £400 - and I will. If I can bid up to £480, I reckon we've got a good chance of getting it.
I tend to differ with Tim here. If you want to use it everyday then do so - after all why pay out for something you are afraid to use? So long as it is cleaned and polished and the rust kept an eye on - plus (as if I need to say) the mechanicals are kept in order, then it should continue to give good service...
Personally if it ends up costing us a bit to help out I'm comfortable with that as I'm sure a discount would be offered to members if and when you sold it on (assuming you win it!)

Fair enough Phil, yes I agree cars are there to be driven but using it all year round in rain snow hail etc will dramtically reduce the cars lifespan, and then we will be down to no Mk1s at all. It would be nice to have thw car to use for shows, sunny days and for work in the summer then when it gets wet tuck it away.
Ive had my old Rover for 10 years now, and do just that with it, hence why its rust free and should stay that way and hopefully it will outlast me!

The problem with the scumbags who use bid stealers is they in my experience will enter a silly price to make sure they win.
99% of the time they don't have the decency to complete the transaction so it will appear again in a few weeks time, sitting at your pc at the auction end won't stop them, they are designed to hit you when it's too late to reply.
I'll chip in £20 buddy, so your safe to £500, go for it.

You guys are amazing, you know that?
So here's how it goes - I'll bid up to £510. If I decide to sell, it will be available to BXC members for £400 - the amount I'm putting up.
I don't believe in show cars. It will be used.
But I don't do a lot of miles, I don't drive when the conditions are really harsh and I do understand about cavity wax for the body and polish to protect the paint. There'll be covers going on those seats, too.
There's another problem. I find myself with a GS that needs a good home. I don't want to take it on myself but I might have to temporarily until I can find it a good home.... calling on your help again guys
Maybe someone's got storage until we can sort out a proper home for her? I won't see that car go on ebay again. Yes I would let the Mk 1 BX go if necessary to prevent that.
Dammit. Life's never easy, eh?
