You yourself show frustration at people labelling the drivers of BMW cars, yet you yourself just labelled Saxo, Fiesta and Corsa drivers as chavs. My girlfriend has a Saxo VTR. she's no chav. My brother has a Fiesta Zetec S, he's no chav. Half the people who take courtesy cars out at work take a Corsa, are they chavs too?

If you take something too literally and then grab the bull by the horns, you'll probably get thrown off.

The car I overtook was a BMW 325i, and the look on his face was as described. I did briefly think about choosing a different car in the example, as although it actually did happen, and it actually was a BMW 325i, I though "ooh I might offend someone with this for whatever possible beyond believe reason, so I'd better use a car that is ficticious. That way no one will be offended because no one can own it."
Sadly, this obviously couldn't be done, so I stuck with the truth and look at your reaction.

Ok fair do's Kitch, maybe slight overeaction on my behalf in the first post, my second post explains it better.
And my own son has a Corsa and he's no chav either so should have kept the makes out of it, and used the term 'boyracers' possibly. As I said I just dont understand the 'BMW baiting' 'BMW bashing' thing, and might be missing something I dont understand, but we're all different and any Xantia passing me at any speed wouldn't make a bit of difference to my facial reaction I can assure you.
You didn't offend me with the 325i thing, it just left me curious more than anything, and I was using your post as example so I hope no offence was caused.
I like Bx's just as much as everybody else here, and have had them for years now, the forum is excellent source of information, its just sometimes i feel that i dare mention i'm a BMW owner on here when I see the attitude towards at them.
Not long ago on this forum someone was critical of VW, and another person wasn't too pleased and made his feelings known, human nature i suppose.

Daewoo anyone?
**** sticks head slowly above the parapet******

Errrm.......yes.........I think the little blue bubble currently sitting in my front garden answers to the name 'Daewoo'!

Actually.....it's a bloody good little motor, and almost as cheap to run as Monica!

If I stick it on eBay (once it has a full MOT) I see no reason why it won't fetch in the region of £850.......which will probably buy me a nice BX GTi 16v, and keep it on the road for a good while!

To sum it up.......RESULT!!

I DO get 'protective' over my cars, but at the end of the day (God, how I hate that phrase!), it's a lump of metal, and bashing it won't get me anywhere near as angry as anyone abusing my family would!!

Interesting thread this....consodering it started off as a discussion of running BXs on chip fat!

I think people do generalise when they talk about BMW’s and their drivers. That’s not to say that they are all tarnished with the same brush, but generalisations are there for a reason and statistical fact. I always give them the benefit of the doubt, as nice people are sometimes behind the wheel. This morning I saw one edging into my lane quite aggressively and I had no choice to let him in, but he thanked me for keeping back, and to be honest I may well have had to do the same if I had chosen the wrong lane. I think the term “BMW bashing” and so on relates to the generalisation that a higher proportion of arrogant drivers drive them than other makes, and people with a very slight chip on their shoulders about certain drivers, get a high accuracy rate about the character behind the wheel. In our case, its often a case of “who needs to spend £30,000 on a new BMW when you can go faster in a sporty £500 BX”. I have had moments like this but I never deliberately upset people. I always wait for something idiotic to happen first, and it often does. However, overtaking a BMW just because you can shouldn’t upset an innocent BMW driver, as its not exactly going to slow them down or affect them in any way. Large Audi’s are starting to catch up in the aggressive arrogant stakes. That said, BMW’s are fantastic cars, and people who just appreciate a sensible, comfortable, well engineered and built car do drive them (And your obviously one of them bxaholic (as you’ve got a BX too, only joking :) )

That is the exact reason I bought the 530d and not to race anyone, most pleasing thing for me about it is the fantastic economy, 51mpg on a run from a 6 pot, and regarding that £30k you mentioned, I wouldn't spend {or could afford} the third of that on any car. This is the last you'll hear me mention this car. its a BX forum afterall.

BACK TO THE TOPIC..... glad I came across this thread about veg oil, as someone close to me has started selling it or I think that what it is, he's got Bio diesel on the sign, and I was going to enquire about it, but having a Lucas pump on the TZD its obvious by this thread its not adviseable.

I think you'll find if it is Bio diesel then you will be ok with it as it will have had the esterisation (spelling) which takes out all the nasties and leaves it ready for use by any type of car. Best to find out ...you could be missing out on a lot of saving.......
