I hope the car is as nice as it looks. Most BXs are getting a bit creaky now, so it could be a bit of a find. I have been mucked about once when selling and it left a nasty taste, so unless he offers you a discount...... I bought my 19Tzi sight unseen on ebay about 3 years ago, and the whole transaction was great, and I've had many trouble free miles in it since. (Bust at the moment though :( )

Do you think I can talk the seller down a few quid, or is that unfair seeing as I bid for it. Just asking because it has no tax ...
Not unless you want him to go all red in the face and tell you to F-off ;-)

Haha. Ditto to that, possibly with some physical abuse of some nature too.

Big big money for a TD. Hope it works out for you! :)

Don't haggle once you won the bidding. That's not done. If I had sold a car like that and the winner turned up and haggled I'd lose it.

Better to not turn up and make up some story about no longer being able to blah blah... both ways you'll get bad feedback more than likely, but you keep your teeth.

Although it's a fair amount of money for just about any BX, you did want it and you bid to win it regardless. Live with your decision and enjoy the car!

Having re-read this thread, I think you have been extremely unlucky. The car does indeed look very tidy. I can only think that once you get the issues sorted - which hopefully with the help and advice of experts on this forum will be practical - you will end up with a nice BX. Shame you had to part with so much to get it. But you've got little choice now than to get it sorted. I genuinely hope this experience hasn't put you off the BX!

Stick with it. It should be worth it.

Shite!

I'd call it bad luck but then, this is not uncommon for me. I did all I could at the time I inspected the car, I suppose in the end I was part blinded by wanting it, I over-saw the potential problems.

I'd call who I out-bid a very lucky person, they were prepared to pay almost as much as I did for it.

I can't see where I'm going to get the money to fix this car but then, in the long term it should be worth it seeing as the exterior is in good condition.

I still like the BX, just at the moment not so much this BX.

Lets not get too carried away here.

Ok, so it appears that the spheres are FUBAR.
Well, ok, spheres do have a life, they are cheap, easy to change, and if finances are that tight, leave them until you can afford them.

The turbo may be a free fix, especially if it's just a stuck wastegate, which is more likely than total failure, as I dont think any of us have ever heard of any XUDT turbo failing.
Or it could be something really simple as well documented across a few threads now.

The starting issue is probably the battery, and batteries fail aswell, especially if they aint used and it's cold.

So really, even though you paid alot of money for a bx, it's not all that bad.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

You're right, I'll post what the findings are when I get them.
