Quick update. Spoken to the bloke who actually owns the car now (rather than the one who's advertised it). Waiting for him to speak to Richard and confirm that he's happy for it to go elsewhere.
Quick question. Would it be alright after three years to just whack jump leads on it and see if it'll fire up? I'd probably give it a few quick bursts of starter to help get the oil circulating before actually trying to start it. Would make life an awful lot easier if I can get the thing to rise up off its bump stops...

I'd be tempted to put it in gear and rock the car back and forth if it will, or try turning the engine over with a spanner on the crankshaft pulley bolt to see if it's seized or not. Other than that she'll probably fire up straight away.
I'd also have some blocks of wood handy in case she blows a pipe or rear cylinder when she comes up, makes getting a jack under much easier if that happens.

Yeah, it's in a tricky spot to drag it out too, right in the centre of town. Plans are afoot!
Downsides with this one are that the crash damage includes a banana-shaped sill, as well as crumpled LH doors and rear wing. Sill is really solid! It's done 282,000 miles and the engine is liberally covered in oil. Bit like my last one really in that regard...
Rear floor isn't too bad, just some minor rot on the LH rear corner. RH sill has been patched, but seems solid. Parked against a wall, so not that easy to check...
Both A posts look good, C posts are pretty good. Windscreen pillar has some rot on the LH side. Bulkhead seems solid beneath washer bottles. Interior is dirty but should be ok.
Thankfully, it's been stored on stands/blocks, so extricating it should be fairly easy - especially if we can get it running. Pics to follow after dinner...

I don't actually know what a Mk1 door is meant to look like. Does look Mk2 in that shot. Seats are not of a material I've ever seen in a Mk2.
Can you get sills for the BX? Not sure the dented one on the LH side is going to pull out. Should it still pass the MOT with a great dent in it? Thankfully the B post seems to be in the right place and the doors open properly.
Tailgate is a bit squiffy, which shows how much the LH rear wing is bent I think.
