Re: Aussie BX's
I bought the car with 413000 km on the clock. The seller claims there had been an engine refurbishment at some stage. Its actually over 460000 km now. I'm clocking up 1000 km a week easy. It's country driving but I still spend half my life behind the wheel. Poor things a bit tired and I've just acquired a lower km wreck. The donor car just can't be saved due to rust. Brake discs, front struts, inner rack ends, sun roof from donor. Plus paint roof and front bumper. Building up to a week or two off the road for some well due maintenance. Should be a new car.MULLEY wrote:Original engine, have you had to do any work on the powerplant at all? If not, that's quite impressive, but i've heard that the petrol engines as long as the servicing is spot on & the coolant changed regularly, then they can do diesel mileage.

Re: Aussie BX's
Bought my first home with my wife in July, naturally BX accommodation was first on our to do list.
New shed with its inhabitants.

Re: Aussie BX's
A few updates, good and bad news unfortunately.
Bad news first. The olympic blue 1.9 TZi has had a pretty much terminal front ender. It's my fathers car and was mechanically puuuuuurfect with a recently reco'd engine etc. We'll have to wait and see what he does with it. He bought the wreck back from the insurance company.
Good news now: Bought another Valver! It is a 1993 metal bonnet, no sunroof, australian delivered, DFW powered model.
Found it for sale on Aussiefrogs cheap, advertised with a ?broken cam belt, no compression, no spheres, and not run 3 years.
I've always wanted one of the metal bonnet/no sunroof valvers as these are they type that Peter McLeod raced at the Bathurst 12 hour successfully in the early 1990's.
To get it on the trailer we removed the bumpers, pumped up the tyres and used a tilt trailer with a winch.
First thing we noticed was that the car did have rear spheres and an accumulator, and when we got home we also found that the car had an intact cambelt and some compression!
Also found the head lamp lenses fell off in my hands when I went to remove them to get to the bumper..
This is where the car stands at present, it looks happy among its kinfolk.

Re: Aussie BX's
The White one has cleaned up pretty well!
Still having the no warning lights intermittent fault as described in the technical thread but I think that's my doing.
Dave (my brother) and I have bought this together as a joint project and hope to take it to some track days in the future.
