If I understand things correctly, the STOP warning light should illuminate before pressure drops below the point at which suspension and brakes are affected.
I think...

Most likely, but the light coming on isn't going to help you if you're already into the problem and you need your brakes.jonathan_dyane wrote:If I understand things correctly, the STOP warning light should illuminate before pressure drops below the point at which suspension and brakes are affected.

I should add that as with all safety back-ups, utilisation of suspension reserve for braking is there for when an emergency arises not for a reason to delay fixing a problem that you are aware already exists.

It may well be that my car had the weak accumulator & weak pump scenario. David, you felt for yourself what effect the new accumulator had on my car when you fitted it in ?March last year.DavidRutherford wrote:I don't see how it can, but some people have reported an improvement in ride after changing the acc sphere.mat_fenwick wrote:Apologies if I am asking a daft question...but does/can the accumulator sphere have a large effect on the ride?
Before: car easily bottomed out at rear over speed bumps, handled like a boat on the motorway. It was stupidly easy to push the car down to rear bump stops by hand (or knee on the rear bumper).
After: completely different. Much more firm at rear, significantly more difficult to bottom out car by hand.
Not a temporary effect either! The new accumulator was actually an XM centre sphere btw. I think the car would benefit further from a new HP pump... and a non-leaking rear height corrector.
