DKK will be next year and I'll be doing the same. I'll be able to claim a portion of the road tax back I paid in November too.

Re: DKK
The road tax for BXs is quite steep I think and is a lot more than the modern crap I drive these days.

£380 for the GT but I'll be able to claim some of it back once I register it as historic after April next year.

Re: DKK
Oh pants I think I have a heater matrix leak. Strong smell of coolant (Evans waterless) when the heater blower is on. Loosing a small amount but I'll need to address it eventually - when it's warmish and dry.

Re: DKK
A mere flesh wound, I was thinking of clamping the heater hoses to prove if it was leaking but they seem to be quite hard, don't want to crush them and knacker them completely. Job for the spring as DKK is back under cover and the Minor pressed into service.

Re: DKK
Gave DKK a start today, needed a boost pack as it had been standing for weeks and the battery was a bit sluggish. Ran OK for a while and left it running to heat everything through and as the auto choke was backing off and the revs returned to 1000rpm it cut out and wouldn't restart. Swapped the battery for a fully charged one but not a tickle. Fuel was pumping, checked plugs and had sparks. Tried multiple times but just got the occasional spit back through the carb.
Bummer, try again tomorrow if the weather holds.

Re: DKK
Had a few minute between rain showers and went for a start - which it did. Revved round to 4000 rpm and stayed there, cable was fine and not stuck so switched off and tried again and the revs were then as they should be on choke. Let it warm up and at 77 degrees it cut out, restarted OK but then cut out again and wouldn't restart, same as yesterday with a couple of pop backs from the carb.
Auto choke? Is the choke flap supposed to close with the engine warm? Blocked jet somewhere so will only run when the choke mechanism is operating. I'm open to ideas please anyone.

Re: DKK
If it is to do with the auto choke providing an over rich mixture then it should restart if you floor the accelerator pedal while spinning the engine to clear the excess fuel from the cylinders. Should be easy to check the autochoke flap for any stiffness or sticking.

Re: DKK
I think I've sorted it. I did as Jaba suggested I squirted oil all around the linkages and, once the engine was running, bled the auto choke heater hose to make sure there wasn't an air lock or blockage. Initially all seemed well until the fan cut in and the engine cut out. I floored the pedal and cranked the engine over, the engine eventually fired but the revs went ballistic so it was hastily shut off. Much cranking and backfiring later (one gunshot one the scared the crap out of me) it started but again revved high but gradually eased off to about 3500 rpm which gave me a chance to check under the bonnet. I could see fuel being sucked into the second choke so poked a screwdriver down and found the flap open which I closed with a push on the screwdriver. The revs returned to a blissfully quiet tickover and I got a chance to see what was what. The second choke operating lever was sticking as I moved it so a scooshe of good old fashioned release oil and lots of manipulation got it moving smoothly again. A few drops of engine oil and hopefully it will be fine from now on. The car starts easily now hot or cold and runs better than ever so fingers crossed.

Re: DKK
In other news the ancient Phillips radio cassette player has finally given up the ghost and has jammed my favourite Fleetwood Mac tape in there
So I started searching for a replacement to compliment the fancy new speakers I got for Christmas. I didn't want a CD head unit and managed to bag a Kenwood radio cassette head unit along with a matching CD auto changer off eBay, the head unit worked fine but the changer was kaput so got refund for that. Another search and I found the same model auto changed new old stock still sealed in the box for less than £40
and it works (bench test)
Well chuffed with that and I think a period installation that would have been fitted to many a 80's car by their descerning owners in the 90's

Re: DKK
Glad you found the sticky flap and normality is restored.
I've still got loads of C90s from the 1970's. Never play them these days and I expect they have lost a lot of there woomphff by now. Music playback has moved on and I've got 100s of CDs on an SD card for use in my Skoda.
Still trying to Break The Chain.........
