I miss the Mk1 dashboard, but I still quite like the Mk2!

Never had a Mk2 with a dash that flash - both my previous RD Estate and the TGE had the clock instead of the rev counter and no oil gauge

In a week's time, the old heap will be going in for welding. Before then, I've got to remove the tow bar. Hoping my impact driver will help there - either undoing the bolts of snapping the threads I suspect...

I was going to take the Nissan this weekend but only because I needed it for something else. That looks like it has fallen through so might yet bring the BX. I'd be happier chucking my new winter tyres in the boot of that for a start, though both front tyres are right down on the limit so the winter tyres might be getting fitted a bit early! The BX still needs a cambelt change (41,000 miles on this belt and the water pump and tensioner were not changed last time - this was 2010) and I've ordered the stuff, just not sure it'll arrive before the weekend. Have also bought a new thermostat gasket. When I changed the 'stat back in 2010, it didn't come with a new gasket. Naturally I wrecked the old gasket and bodged it as best I could. It's survived pretty well but I've been putting so much water into it that the coolant mix is now very weak indeed. I need to get it water-tight again so I can get some actual coolant into it before it freezes (and before it all corrodes up internally...)

You could have the Pug wheels from Timex back if you want - I figured that due to the dent in one of the rims the MOT man may fail them, so I collect my genuine MK1 BX rims (rescued from the Weston's scrap pile - thanks Andy) from the tyre shop tomorrow with their new rubber fitted.

Thanks but the biggest problem with those wheels is the colour! I think I'll just swap the tyres over and then I can spend the winter amassing decent rims to put the summer tyres on.

Yes but in Kent! And they look dreadful. I've got two rims off the Mk1, though the reason they're not on the Mk1 is that one of them has even more rim damage than the ones currently fitted! (just in case Mike was wondering). I'll have all winter to sort something out.
