Here is my 16v in the autumn sunshine, it was the one Kitch was selling back in May.

Now has an MoT and tax, thanks to a lot of effort from Citronut.

Some more pictures from a track afternoon at Brands Hatch a few weeks ago.

The car behaved perfectly, and was great fun to slide around the track!!

Ah brilliant! Well done that man! I'm so glad that car has gone to a good home, it was far too good to break.

By the way, I still have the red grille and chevrons from it in my garage. Noticed them the other day! Mean to give them to Lee but totally forgot. Does it still need them?

It will! Totally worth it though.

Thanks for all the kind words, it is a really nice car and drives really well.

Kitch, it still needs the grille. I may be passing in a few weeks, I will drop in and collect if that is OK.

Nice to see a BX out on track... It's been a while.

Looks like it was rolling a lot less than I would have expected

Must have been braking hard - look at the brake dust on the front wheels! It's turned them almost black...

The track behavior was interesting!

I put a pair of 10 year old almost worn out Firestone 700s on the front thinking it would at least make the handling safe, i.e. understeer. But, when it came to it the almost brand new Avon ZV3s on the rear seemed to have less grip and the car had what can only be described as "turn in oversteer". This was a bit of a surprise at the first couple of corners but once I got used to it I could make the car do a four wheel drift around a corner!!
I was equally surprised at the flat cornering stance when I saw the pictures, but a feature of the 16v is much thicker anti roll bars, so much so that if you push a rear corner the whole rear end goes down.
The brakes were excellent, part of the work for the MOT was fitting Mintex discs and pads all round, no fade or lack of power. My young son thought it cool when after the first session I came in and the front pads were pouring smoke out of the wheel arches and the top of the bonnet!! Did not seem to affect the performance, if anything they improved. Unfortunately, later in the day the front wheels got so hot that one of the plastic wheel centres fell out somewhere around the track.
I do not know how fast it was going, the speedo is broken, but is was pulling 6500 rpm in 4th before braking for Paddock Hill bend.

Next outing will be Lydden next March.

Excellent! Maybe I should get mine out on the track afterall! 8)

Just go steady with the left-handers and watch the oil pressure!

Is it just my eyes or are the rear alloys the thinner 8v type?

Yeah they look like 8v one to me too Tim. You study the pics too much!

I'm running 8v rims and 185's on my red valver at the minute and the handling actually seems a bit sweeter than on the 6J's and 195's! Well it did until it developed a misfire in the rain a couple of weeks ago. I've yet to discover whats causing it

The rear rims are 6", but I have fitted 185/60s to them.
Much easier to find than 195/60.
