Hi Im Joe,
Purchased this around 2 weeks ago and is my first Citroen and I have done around 1200 miles in it, Oops
no major work carried out so far, Concentrated on getting it running correctly as it was quite fuelly and lumpy. Adjusted Idle and throttle cable new plugs leads new dizzy and rotor and shes running great. Sills and wiper arms were repainted drivers door frame adjusted new headlight bulbs fitted screenwash repaired and the tired door speakers binned and got some similar to the original fog lights on order.
Planning to use it for weekends, shows and basically restore it as the bumpers are all marked and the passenger side door is a bit rusty and the drivers side bent and a kink in the rear wheel arch.
Definitely my favourite car I've owned

Gti vs 16v, it's closer than what you'd think, don't ask me how I know
. A more interesting match would be a Zx16v vs Bx16v
.

All I know is the 8v is a bit slovenly low down but after 3 and a half grand it pulls like a train.. I think its only 0.8 of a second to 60 between them?

You do have to be quite 'brutal' to get the best out of a valver. I imagine a Gti 8v offers slightly more 'relaxed' performance.

I'd happily take either but I'm afraid lack of space, I had a lovely Gti years ago with the optional black leather, very nice indeed. My Zx16v is now gone and has been replaced by a 406 V6se coupe with a manual gearbox, awesome car and incredible value at the minute.

A lovely low mileage example, well known in BX circles, congratulations, enjoy and look after it!

The two ZX 16vs I drove (one was I car I owned) wouldn't know which way the BX went
Much more sluggish than a decent 16v (though I admit, not all 16vs are decent performers).
Xsara VTS is the tool you need to beat a BX 16v in my experience. Not a huge difference, but the Xsara's just a little bit faster in every way. I'm pretty sure the Saxo VTS could make a BX 16v look silly up until around 70mph. It's definitely quicker in 2nd gear, though I've not had to the chance to 'compare' them like I did the ZX.
If memory serves we had a BX 16v vs. ZX 16v vs. tweaked Activa sprint on the A34 once. BX won, but I can't remember the other two. Think the ZX lost, but we concluded that if the Activa was standard, the ZX probably would have bettered it.
edit: Forgot to say, tidy car. Congrats!
