That's a very kind offer Tim, truly, it is, but I've already relinquished the time I'd booked off at work but thank you.

This disappointment of having to drop out of this one will only serve to fuel the determination to make it on the next one!

No worries mate. Maybe consider getting a cheap daily runner so you can take the tzd off the road and get her fighting fit again?

On the Friday of your tour (starting at Bourg-en-Bresse), you will be passing within 25 metres of our front door in Beaune, as it is on the most obvious routes to Savigny-les-Beaune.

You are welcome to drop in and say hello, or we could do lunch at a local bistro, before you head off the the Chateau at Savigny.

I got AA European Breakdown cover for £92 and no haggling. I have got Gold membership which appears to have saved me a tenner, but well worth it for the peace of mind.

The car is looking shiny and I've been attending to jobs I've put off for months, like taking off the sunroof, cleaning the rubber seal and putting on a smear of silicone, re-conditioning the driver's sun visor so it stays in place and rodding the spray bar.

I get full European cover with my insurer for an extra £50, £30 for just UK. Quite happy with that :D I think i'm with Zenith this year, through Lancaster - i've found them to be quite cheap, and very easy to use as they're a broker.

As per blog, new timing belt kit/water-pump and exhaust bits on and some genuine front pads.

Just needs a good wash and polish and I am all set!

See you at the port guys.

Just in case some of you haven't heard, there is a problem with getting petrol in some areas in France. Paris/Ile de France is mostly affected, so shouldn't cause you too many issues, but there are a few garages on your route to your first stop, so please do take care :) There is a map here that you can check to see the garages that are out of fuel/close to be out of fuel, to help you plan :)

https://www.thelocal.fr/20170531/intera ... unning-dry

They say it should be over by Thursday, but they don't say which one (today, or next Thursday).

Greetings from La Roustou! Unfortunately the last few days have been very wet which means a quick decamp this morning from Sallanches and plenty of wet tents and a few damps challengers too!

Epic scenery, plenty of old French tin but only two bx's so far including a romantic blue mk1 (not Toms!)

Au revoir

On Friday, I have booked lunch at Le Conti restaurant in Beaune.

My attempts to organise reserved parking closer to the centre of town have failed (the Police department needed more notice!),
So I would suggest parking in the new LIDL car park off Rue des Verottes. (note that LIDL moved recently, so don't trust a satnav POI).

When you get to Beaune (coming from the direction of Pommard), at the second set of lights you will turn right into the one-way ring road. You need to follow that road 7/8ths of the way around the town (admiring the town walls as you go), then take the D970 signposted towards Auxerre, and rue des Verottes is the first on the left.

I will be in the car park with my XM and at 11:00 I will walk into town (about 5 minutes). There would be time to take in a tour of the Hospices de Beaune (the town's main attraction) or take a look around the town, before lunch at 12:00 in the cellar of Le Conti in Rue Ziem.
