My first BX for over 20 years!!
Whilst I was/am looking for a GTI, this was just far too nice an example to let go.
She has just over 18220 mile, with what appears to be 100% original paint and in overall very good condition.
Oh, I can't find rust anywhere. This probably due to the fact it has been garaged all of its life.
I just spent 2 hours driving around central london with no issues.
Naturally, she isn't perfect. My defects list thus far :
Passenger side needs new door mirror, as the arm is snapped.
Front bumper not mounted on the return to each wing - as per pictures
The radio is dead. No worries, I need one with hands free anyway.
Small clunk when reversing , then braking. From what sounds like front near side.
The clutch is a little stiff and low.
Thats about it.
So over all I am very very happy.
She is booked into Roberts Motorworks for 2 weeks time to investigate and repair the defects
Below are some pictures taken very hastily in an as is condition. So pre wash, clay bar and ceramic etc etc

Looking very tidy.
Does the 18k miles check out?
How much did it cost in the end?

Mileage checks out, MOT history back to 2005 online. They only used it on the occasional weekend, hence the very low annual miles driven.
Also there is nothing anywhere on the car that would suggest a higher mileage
I paid the princely sum of £2200, which I believe to be a bargain. With a full tank of petrol.

Lovely.
Is Robert’s motorworks a Citroen specialist? Be warned that very few garages know how to deal with a BX these days and could cause more harm than good, especially to a car with so little wrong with it as this.
I’m located in Leyton E10 and know the mechanics of BXs inside out if you’re this side of London and need any advice etc
Enjoy!

Btw the clunk when braking on reversing is the front brake pads moving slightly in their housing due to the retaining spring not being 100%. Not dangerous in the slightest as the pads can’t come out, and is just an annoyance rather than something to worry too much about

thanks for this, I don't recall my "back in the day" BX's clunking. But that was decades ago !!!, and I had a 2000W JBL sound system with 4x18" subs in a push pull arrangement in the boot to dull downtime rattles and squeeks

With a car in this condition, if you are going to expose it to the elements, I would strongly encourage you to get cavity rustproofing done by a specialist, before water/dirt/salt start destroying the steel.
I previously recommended Rustbuster
https://rust.co.uk , but they have recently ceased their in-house rustproofing services, and are concentrating on supplying products. I would trust them to recommend a specialist in your area. The other thing that they should be able to supply is a diagram of all the cavity injection points for a car, I think there were about 50 for my XM.

That’s is lovely and a very good price considering old car prices have recently gone mental, well done!
I take it you live in London as you were driving about there or was that where you were picking it up from?
My favourite Citroen specialists near-ish you are Chevronics (who also do rust proofing), BL Autos and Pleiades. All north of you.
I think Kitch’s garage also does rust proofing and he is south of you but I can’t remember exactly where.
