I made it back without any troubles guy's
For anyone who doesn't know what happened to me today on my travels to the ccc meet @ Gaydon today, well
I've been getting a flat battery, i know i've got slightly dodgy battery clamps, so presumed that it was that. As i was driving down to Tamworth services to go down in convoy with Kevan, Tim, Tim's cousin, Owen & Richard (all in Tim's 3 cars) i noticed that the rev counter wasn't reading correctly, bit strange but pressed on. Then the stereo cut out, i presumed perhaps it was a fuse, also the indicators stopped working or were very week.
So get to the services, Kevan kindly had a look, not 100% sure what the issue might be, so the guy's gave me a bump start (i think that's the 1st one i've ever had). Car starts no problem. On the way to Gaydon, overtaking a lovely dyane, i thought i'd pip the horn & wave, pressed the horn, no sound & then the engine just stops (oh bugger), no indicators, nada, managed to get onto the hard shoulder & Kevan kindly stopped for me & gave me another jump start. So now i mustn't touch anything that requires a current, luckily my satnav had plenty of batter power, i couldnt even use my wipers when it started raining (luckily it was only a short shower).
Manage to get to the motor musuem, in the queue to pay, cuts out again, how embarrasing

All these other cars had to scoot round me & Kevan who was once again giving me a jump start. Once again the old gal fired up again & i just drove through the gates mouthing "can't stop, i'll be back to pay" i think i got a look of wtf????

- I did go back & pay.
Thanks once again to the members of the bx club who not only managed to diagnose that it was a knackered alternator that was the problem, but managed to fit a replacement one for me, cheers to Doc who did the fitting & to Kevan, Smithy, Vanny & Bandit for all having a looksey & swearing at each other
I bought 3 old alternators for £10, the 1st one fitted was kaput, the 2nd one fitted was kaput & at this point i was thinking, oh shit, luckily the worst one out of the 3 (Vanny claims he suggested to fit that one 1st

) was ok, hurrah, another jump start courtesy of a jump pack & she once more roared into life. Many thanks guy's, i would most likely have been going back on a flatbed, this is the best bunch of guy's you're likely to meet. The humour, camerderie & hard work is a tribute to BX Project & BX Club, may it long continue.
It was also great to finally meet some new faces some of whom have been on the forum for a while & some who are recent additions. I'll try & list those who i met, Bandit, Jacksun, Richard1652, Citronut, electrokid, big J (you know who you are

), i hope you enjoyed our send off
If i've forgotten anyone, please accept my apologies, i'm much better with faces than names

Great to meet up with everyone else who i regularly see at the Wetherby & Stratford meets. A very good turn out for the Bx which was rather good & congrats to Tim again for winning yet another prize. It's about time someone else got their mk1 upto concourse standards
One of the highlights was at the end of the evening whilst the draw was taking place, me & doc were wetting ourselves at the expressions of a dude that kept winning prizes & had the look on his face of not giving two hoots to the crap that he was winning, absolutely priceless. I don't know your name sir, but would like to thank you for the free entertainment, i suspect that me & doc when & if we ever reach that same age may very well have the same facial expressions when winning stuff we certainly don't need or want
Cheers CCC, I had a full on day & the motor museum wasn't bad either
