I suppose they're considering in the price the almost new clutch ( that alone would cost almost the asking price in parts and labour) and the engine re-build. As they're also a Citroen specialist perhaps at least you know what you're getting rather than a mystery dog.
Probably being sat around that yard hasn't done it any good though but if it is only those things listed wouldn't be so much for MoT for a backyard mechanic? You lot are spoilt in Uk with the prices for valvers. When they crop up here they've always got a healthy price tag and often no history..

I would assume that the only did the big end shells with the engine still in the car, perhaps dropping the caps off the mains to inspect them. To be fair, the big ends invaribly show signs of wear first.mat_fenwick wrote:I wonder what they mean by "Bottom end shells also replaced"? Big ends, mains or both? If they'd done the main bearings surely they'd have to remove the engine (at least that's the way I've done it), in which case why did the clutch need replacing 7k miles later?

It means that the brakes aren't working very well...Matt H wrote:Just a quick question... what does the 'low brake effort' actually mean? Simply a case of changing the brake pads, and re-adjusting the handbrake, or is it something more serious.
First Black P2 in ages...
The cause could be anything from contaminated pads to seized callipers to a hydraulic problem (unlikely). Impossible to speculate.

Those wheels are Speedline Comp 2's, the official wheel from the Saxo Super 1600 rally series. Not an option on the BX (and rightly so, they don't suit it) but in white or silver on the right car they're lovely rims!
Certainly looks fixable to me. £450 is too much though, i'd give £300 for it, as the work required won't be too hard.
Flogg the rims, pop some proper ones back on, polish it up and get it ticketed and you're laughing!

A few more details on the car...

and...The seller wrote:hi as far as i am aware rust wise it is in good shape just some of the paintwork dull and somer laquer peeling both rear arms were removed when we got the car and re bearinged etc the heater all works fine has probably stood for about 18months on and of as we have run the car and moved it around i will check for any rust issues and email u monday evening i think it is a shame not to put back on road we need space and this would make agood car for someome
I won't be going for this one unfortunately, as I've just bought an AX diesel... but I think it is definitely a reasonable looking project for someone. I think it would be a real shame to see another black one go to the crusherThe seller wrote:Hi have checked car for rust and very slight in boot floor but not holed both rear door shuts have very slight surface bubbles but very smallarea and not holed both front door pillars good and no welding has been carried out anywere also ns front inner wing has start of rust under air filter i am trying to be honest as i can but as far as bx/s go this is above averidge for age also carpets are all dry cheers

I shant be bidding although I no longer have my spare engine as some bastard has stolen the breaker valver that was Smiffy's, although the engine was mine.
Which is quite impressive given it's location and lack of wheels and hubs and stuff.
Has to be a pugger (and I say this with good reason rather than just a cheap shot).

Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!
Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...
