URGENT: what do you think?

Looking at this car, I wanted to go and see it but there's no address of tel. number. Seems ok but without viewing it I can't be sure, what do think?

Very tempted to bid but I don't want to be stupid. I sometimes rush into things, then regret it.

What are your opinions on this car? Please reply asap as there's not much time left.

In my opinion this look a straight car. It has been well looked after from its appearance (it's got a sunroof wind deflector too - bonus

)... Wheels not to everyone's taste but I don't think they look too bad. The chap photographing the car must realise that a particular 'weak point' (rust-wise) are the front of the rear arches where they meet the sill: and we have a pic of both showing them in good order - which tells you something positive.

I think I'd go for it on balance. Not sure it's worth much more than £425 tbh, especially as it has no Tax, but a 12 month ticket's a good thing.

i would say sir plip of chidfordshire that you are spot on just depends on how desparate you are to have one but i certainly would not go a above £500

A years test is good. 100% positive feedback on 155 transactions is good. Everything else is pure speculation. I agree on not going over £500 .

Agree with all the above, but I notice from his feedback that he has only sold 3 things…personally I would be very reluctant to buy a car unseen from eBay, or indeed anywhere!

It's down to individual choice. I've bought five BXs, a Mercedes, a Fiat and a couple of Toyotas on eBAy over the years. And maybe I was lucky, but despite not seeing any beforehand, I had no real issues with any of them bar one Toyota... but even that turned out OK in the end.

I think, if you examine every little bit of the listing, study the pics closely (and talk to the person if you can - or e-mail), your instincts will tell you whether or not to gamble.

The choice is completely yours. Good luck.

Fog lights look a bit dodgey, as do the wheels but they're things that can be altered if needed.

Looks to be some sort of mickey mouse red switch on the mirror panel too, hopefully not a hard-wired cooling fan or something. Description is weak, but pictures aren't bad.
I think it's just a case of going with your gut. Colours nice, but a TXD Turbo isn't exactly an exciting model, so don't pay too much for a car you may get bored of is my advice.

Otherwise looks ok.

I've tried getting insurance quotes for the TXD but my current provider won't return ... this is using comparison sites. They will, however cover me for a TZD but not a TXD? Seems strange ...

I'll phone them tomorrow, and ask directly.

BTW, what's wrong with the fogs? They look fine to me, looks like one has been replaced with a new one, because it's clearer.

I'm not sure what to do yet, I'll leave it until tomorrow ...

I think it looks quite smart, theres always something wrong or requiring attention with cars at this price level.

I purchased my gti sight unseen along with my txd. I was prepared to get negative feedback if i decided it was a shed. Thats always the buyers get out clause, was it advertised correctly, if someone says its mint & you find shit loads of rust, holes, dents etc...then you can quite rightly decide not go ahead with the transaction.

I've never paid a deposit upfront, just incase i back out of the deal. If the seller is genuine, what have they got to be afraid of?

TXD is only one spec level down from the tzd, so it should have less to go wrong on it

Good ones are hard to come by these days, i'd go to £750 if i was really keen, mileage is rock bottom for its age as well, it all depends on how badly you want it??

I may be able to go and see it BEFORE I bid, this would certainly make me feel more comfortable ... piece of mind

Always recommend to have a viewing if possible, that should make your decision that much easier. Does seem as though theres quite a bit of interest...

Its the light, my gti is the exact same colour, its a sort of lighter version of a modern anthracite colour, its a really nice colour imho. He's cheated a bit by taking piccies after its just had a wash, so the paintwork may not look quite as immaculate, still looks good though, tempted?

Erm, does it matter? I've got both types on my cars, cant tell sod all difference when driving them, only when lifting them up
