Will do. By the way, I know Great Missendon (or however it's spelt) and I can get there, do you still have the details so maybe I can take my car there, should I need to?

Thanks for your help everyone. :)

My first car I bought was a Mini, the most rusty patched up bag of nails youve seen in your life, why did I buy it? I liked the wheels  We live and learn mate so dont worry, as the guys on here say, if the bodys sound the rest is relativly easy to fix and parts arent hard to get. Just think of it as a project.

I wish I had more mechanical know-how, and some money, but this car has wiped me out. Even though I'm broke I'm still enjoying the car, and I look forward to fixing it, although I wish I could do it myself.

Hasn't Louis retired??
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

well, my first car was a rover metro 1.1s

bought for about £300 less than any others i looked at!

low mileage, trouble was someone had put some gunk in with the oil to disguise the fact the head gasket was on its way, it didnt overheat for 2 months after i bought it, and there were no signs at all, it just went. i had many rovers since and of the 8 ive had, only 2 had head gasket trouble.

furthermore.... i was very lucky...

a week before, i looked at a minter....

a 1992 (k) rover metro 1.4 gsi, black with tan leather, rover bodykit, all the toys (for a metro) e/w, c/l, alarm, alloys, nice car, good value too.

mum and dad negotiated a deal, it drove ok, but had a worn tyre and didnt seem quite as sporty handling as some others i drove. dad said it was worth it, so we put a deposit down, and the dealer said we could take the v5 to tax it the following morning.

next day, mum was looking at the v5, and decided to get previous owners details and ask why they sold the car etc, old man answered and seemed shaken when she said about us buying the car, he then saidthe car had been written off in a side-on impact 2 weeks before

the dealer had bought it, bent it back into shape badly then put a green door on a black car, and sprayed it, we went back, had it on a ramp, and having a good look under, you could see the impact, bad repair etc etc.

needless to say i didnt buy it!

so, tourist, sorry about the legnthy message, but you are lucky, and others have come off much worse!

I'm sure I heard that story too but he still has his own website up on t'internet. :?

Actually the BXC web page likely needs review. It's also geographically challenged too as Louis 'pin' is south-east of Reading.
